Album Notes
The Julian Temple Band makes music that is down and dirty but full of love for sound. Spawned in early 2004, they have independently released two albums and toured extensively in the U.S. and N.Z.

Ever- changing and always re-inventing, the Julian Temple Band's sound is impossible to pin down. It does not matter what they sound like, what matters is that they sound out what the audience want: something new, something fresh, something original. (Obviously this does not apply to those out the back screaming to play "the Gambler.") Ask the band and they will tell you: "let the music do the talking."

Temple's use of electric and acoustic guitars along with his husky and sometimes anguished blues-man vocals brings expressive depth and diversity to the songs. Low frequencies are thumped out by Scott Campbell whose jazz and funk-inspired bass lines glue the band together while drummer Paul McLennan-Kissel's fine tuned and lively syncopation is both backbone and finishing touch.

Andy Dooley-Miller - KVMR FM, California

FUN ALBUM! I like the combination of acoustic instruments and modern high energy arrangements. It has both the feeling of new and being familiar. The music/lyrics fit together perfectly. My favorite: Square One

Leon Ferri - WCDB 90.9FM, Albany, New York

Tony Bates - Highlands FM, Australia

A great mix of various genres
What a sound! A great mix of various genres resulting in something only this trio could come up with. The musical interplay is TRULY EXCELLENT.

Scott Johnston - KIX FM, Australia

An interesting step forward in music
Congradulations on the CD! A distinctive and original sound and really hard to catergorize, perfect for my show! I only put to air material which I think is an interesting step forward in music and I hate formulaic work. "In Sea" is a great track and I have played it in my program slot every show so far, with a big plug for NZ. Great work guys! Scott. -KIX FM, Australia

Jan Nederveen, Radio Heerde, Netherlands

In each moment something new
A very special cd "In sea" by JujjuCrew. It sounds extraordinary. No thirteen in a dozen. It is pop with jazzy influence. Take the song "Moosey and Juice". You can hear that very well. I have now choosen for "Bipolar". Also the driving rhythm and the voice of Julian with passion in this songs and all the songs. You can't predict the song. In each moment something new. But not that you loose the line in the song. For sure I play more of this album in my program.

Vey nice sound
A very deep album, but light at the same time. Makes me want to quit my job and go surfing. Great vocals with a rhythm section that ozes style....Three thumbs up.

Peter Thornton - Rip It Up Magazine

The Juju Crew have produced a debut album that is as low-key as it is charming. Ultimately simple in its construction, In Sea echoes the John Butler Trio's style while accommodating a downbeat and slightly madcap manner. At times the lyrics are hilarious, look no further than "Moosey and Juice", and there is character aplenty, such as with the native Indian chanting on "Higher". And for all those obscurities there is also much eminence on offer. A smooth summer jazz feel is well achieved throughout by acoustic means and there are tracks like "Kissed Your..." that deliver some clever lyrics: "I can't change for you/I can only change for me". For an album that is generally tongue-in-cheek there are moments of sincerity. As a result, the mood can be a bit confused and momentum is often lost into the dissolving beats of each track. "Like the loudest blues band in the world whispering" is how the Juju Crew have been described, and it's a paradoxical and absurd summary that seems to fit. - Peter Thornton, Rip It Up Magazine
