What a Great CD!

I love this CD!
I'm only 19, but I really like great vocalists. I came across Julie Budd when walking past Barnes and Nobles store on 86th Street. I got home, and decided to check her out. What a great CD! Her voice blows me away and I can get into the songs. Julie: you have a new fan.

Julie Budd's new CD is THRILLING
Julie Budd's new CD, They Wrote the Songs, is simply AMAZING! Her selection of songs is terrific and, as a superb vocalist, she easily transitions from Great American Standards to jazzy renditions of contemporary music. I have been a fan of her music for years and this collection of heartfelt and heartwarming music does not disappoint. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

How Music Should Be Sung
I am in love with this CD. In love with it. I had heard that Julie Budd recently released a new album after a several year absence. Well, I downloaded it and in one word: FANTASTIC. Again, Miss Budd does not let down her fans. She gives them the belting of a trained Broadway singer to the tender feel of a meadow in Spring. Her choice of songs further exemplifies her voice and makes you want to hear more. Julie, if you read this: we love you. Don't wait so long for the next release!

A voice smooth as silk
Once again Julie delivers an album that is beautiful start to finish, Her silky voice envelopes each and every song as if written for her. Julie conveys warmth and emotion that is so often lost with new artists today, If I had one change I would like to see made it would be more songs. Then again I can not get enough of her music, An album of 50 songs would still leave me wanting more of this extraordinary songstress.

New Julie Budd Album after 9 years....Well Done
I was able to download Julie's new album this morning. Though only 7 tracks (reason for 4 out of 5 starts), there are 11 songs in total. The tribute medley to Anthony Newley contains portions of 4 of his biggest hits. Of all the material chosen, it is well presented and done only the way Julie can. Her voice is still crystal clear and she lives each song. My favorite thus far is her Peggy Lee-influenced version of The Beatle's "Love Me Do", Peggy would be ultra proud of this version. Very jazzy, sexy and totally hip. I've always loved Ann Hampton Calloway's "Perfect" from her original album and Rosalind Kind's version from several years ago. Julie makes it her own. I always wanted her to do this song. Of the new material, "Kindred Spirits" is a lovely ballad done to perfection. The highlight is the Newley medley. In one of Julie's most recent performances, this is her finally and it is performed so beautifully, the audience is crazy when she completes the journey. It translates beautifully to album. I wish Julie much success with this new recording that I am sure you will love.

Julie Wow'em With New CD!
After listening to Julie Budd's eagerly awaited release of her new CD, I have only one word: BRILLIANT. My admiration and awe of Miss Budd's voice has always been in the forefront with me . Her choice of songs exemplifies her abilities as one of the best vocalists this business has given to us. Miss Budd knows how to perfectly interpret a song and knows how to deliver it as only she can! Her rendition of "Home" is tenderly produced with the sounds of children at the beginning and end of the song to show what "home" means to her and to all of us. Her delivery brings us back to a time that we desperately need in these times: love and family. "Kindred Spirits" delivers a tender lyric with a heartfelt vocal. One of my favorites is the Anthony Newley medley. I'm sure you'd agree that Miss Budd can devote an entire show or CD to his brilliance as a writer. The arrangement is pure magic and her transition to each song is seamless and gorgeous. When you listen to this medley, you would think that he wrote them with Miss Budd in mind. So, dear listeners: ENJOY. Miss Julie Budd has given us a treasure for years to come.

Nobody Does It Better
I remember Julie Budd from the 1970s and was immediately hooked by her ability as a singer and as an interpreter of song and lyric. I was blown away by her abilities as an emotional vocalist and as an actress in each song. Here we are in 2014 with this new collection of songs by many of the greatest writers ever. Julie Budd will always be a treasure and legend in the music industry! She sings with the same ease and beauty as she has all of her career. Her choice of songs is exquisite and her interpretations are on the mark. There aren't many innovative singers today who have the style, understanding, and love for a song. Kudos to Julie and her new CD. I hope to see many more in the future!

Julie is truly an American Musical treasure. Her voice is pure spun gold. Typically in her CD offerings, Julie brings her gifted artistry to the tone and expression of every song. And in this, her new CD entitled, “They Wrote the Songs” – an homage to contemporary songwriters, she sustains her position as a true vocal artist. Her voice is simply sublime – it is tender when the phrase calls for delicacy and sensitivity and then soars to the stars with rich and emotional power unsurpassed by anyone singing today. The intimacy she relates to her audience is truly a personal experience.
She is simply unmatched!
The arrangements that envelop her voice, written by her Musical Director, the masterful, Herb Bernstein, are its perfect complement. The beautiful orchestrations that create the playground for Julie’s vocal expression are as thoughtful and wonderful as the clarity of each luminous phrase. Like sparkling crystal held to the light, the combination of song, vocal and music brings with it a sensational prism of many colors and dimensions. I guess everyone who listens to this album will have a favorite song and mine happens to be “Perfect” - as is the CD. Treat yourself … I know you’ll love it!!!
