Album Notes
A somber song of love, war and death set against the backdrop of the American Civil War, Gray is the Rose details a story of the longing and the heartbreak of a young woman whose fiance was killed in service to the Confederacy.

Julie Hawkins is a singer-songwriter, novelist and artist, whose debut novel, A Beckoning Hellfire, tells the story of a young Alabama man who enlists with J.E.B. Stuart's Confederate cavalry.

Gray is the Rose was recorded by Danny McGreger at Wayne Henry Sound Studios in Hernando, Mississippi with violinist Donna Wolf.
