ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Mainstone's first solo CD, Cross the Field, is a collection of ballads and folksongs from Ireland, England, Scotland, and Nova Scotia. Randal Bays produced and arranged the songs, and accompanies Mainstone on guitar and fiddle. John Williams is also featured on button accordion. While some of the songs may be familiar to the folk musician, several are old and unknown songs Mainstone has dug out of old songbooks and breathed into them a new life and sound. Each of the songs tells a story, and the listener is led through a time that is now long passed, yet still evokes relevance and beauty.
