Album Notes
From the Producer, Daniel Barrett:

Julie Nolen is going to cut me. I'll tell you why in a bit.

First I'll tell you why her new album is important.

These songs are made of West Texas and whiskey. Word play and the world view of a woman who has forged her own path without forgetting where she comes from.

When Julie was paying her dues, she hosted several weekly open mics. In an age where some people's idea of serving their community is another selfie, Julie has forwarded her career by helping others.

This album is important because she lived every word, and sang every note from her guts and soul. I have tools for fixing vocals that sat lonely as Julie stepped up and delivered these songs.

This is album is important because piss and vinegar, Texas, and raising just the right amount of hell are important.

When I met Julie I thought she might be gruff. After we were working together for a bit, I told her I thought she was a sweetheart. She said, "Yeah, but if you tell anyone, I'll cut you."

Julie does indeed cut through the bullshit in a world full of it. For that I raise my glass and toast an important voice in Americana Music. Raise hell!

Rockin' Country Beats
Julie's music does not fuck around. This CD is full of raw emotion, rockin' country beats, and lyrics that are easy to understand--both audibly and in relation to that bitch called life. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and found myself surprised and delighted when track #11 (Battleground) moved me to tears. Seriously, it will eat you up. The album's namesake, Dignity and Grit will definitely be a tune that gets stuck in your head. Great album!
