Album Notes
When Neon Thrills broke up in 2005, frontman Mark Rinzel (vox/bass) became another orphan of the New York scene . Lost in a sea of haircuts, Rinzel discovered fellow wayward Guided By Voices-fan Colin Grubb (guitar), who had just moved to New York for no good reason, in a basement on Stanton Street. The two liked each other.

By some stroke of extreme good fortune, drummer Tommy DeVito fell into the mix by way of a short-lived, ridiculously named Led Zeppelin-tribute band (The Back Door Men) the boys had thrown together. After a successful rendering of Zeppelin's II at Arlene's Grocery, the group decided to rock out their own material. The Jupiter Deluxe formed in February 2006.

The result? A hybrid of select 60's/70's vinyl classics, with a healthy dose of indie-rock self-awareness for good measure. You'll hear traces of The Beatles, AC/DC, Oasis, Cheap Trick, The Kinks, Sugar, Guided By Voices, Big Star, Tom Petty, Raspberries, The Animals, The Jam, The Who, Badfinger, David Bowie, U2, T. Rex, The Knack, The Stone Roses, and The Verve. You may wonder why no one else bothered to throw all that together for you. Or you may just be grateful they did.

Jupiter deluxe EP
I had the privelege and opportunity to play some shows with them and ever since I got my hands on their CD it's been in my top rotation on my iPod. This is one of the best rock bands to come along in a long time. I never thought a three piece could ever sound as thick as the Police....until I saw The Jupiter Deluxe. Run don't walk to get your hands on this EP. "Faceplant" is contagious. I can't stop singing the song. It reminds me of classic Cheap Trick. Mark Rinzel's voice is inviting, it makes you want to sing your best rendition of Robin Zander when he kicks into the chorus. "Bachata Rose" is a great driving song. Heavy drums with crunchy guitars. "I got a woman", is a classic song turned into a heart stopping, punked out, rock song. Ray Charles would be proud! "Sleazy Thieves" has a thumping John Bonhamesque groove with guitar changes that remind me of the Beatles' Helter Skelter. An all around sexy song that would fit well with girls swingin from poles (no offense to ladies who make their living that way). "Koreatown" is another solid song that that packs a punch right out of the gate. Funky drums start off the song which sets the mood for the rest of the song. Colin and Mark crank it up and deliver a sweet piece of rock and roll pie. Hands down this is an EP worthy of any party, bar or arena. Catch these guys now while you can still afford the ticket prices. If you are aren't lucky enough to catch a yourself a favor and buy their EP. Your ears will thank you!
