ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
PALEFACE on his side project, Just About To Burn:

JUST ABOUT TO BURN makes the kind of music that feeds off of a pure desire to just enjoy hooky, catchy, acoustic tunes. "We're not trying to set the world on fire but we are Just about to Burn!" laughs Paleface, the creative force behind the band. "There's too much detached music right now-all these clowns who claim they're keeping it real and then getting onstage with backing tapes and lip-synching and auto-tuners and what not. We live and die on the song-if it isn't good no amount of cool samples or whatever is gonna save it.

Paleface should know. He has long been a respected New York City songwriter. Schooled personally by Daniel Johnston and a big influence on artists such as Beck and Kimya Dawson, Paleface was discovered by Danny Fields (The Ramones, The Stooges, Mc5,) on the lower east side and has two major label releases (Sire & Polydor) under his belt. His Tom Waits-inspired wilting croon adds a layer of authenticity to the sound.

It's a sound that owes as much to old-school country-pop, rhythm and blues, and pop music as it does to Paleface's punk-rock caustic New York City roots. "We throw it in if we like it" he says, "and we don't really care if it's trendy or not....And we really want to show people how fresh this music is," claims Paleface, "regardless of what the corporate media is trying to sell- we think this music is better."

Paleface and Monica "Mo" Samalot of Just About To Burn are currently on a US tour in support of their new record "A Different Story" (www.cdbaby.com/paleface2) They perform as a duo under the name of "PALEFACE".
PF- "right now we're excited about what this music means to us and see a wide open future for it ahead".
