Album Notes
Juwita’s debut solo album, ‘Brand New World’ was awarded Best Local English Album at the prestigious AIM (Malaysian Music Industry Awards) in 2005. She was also nominated for Best Female Vocal Performance in an Album the same year. These were only 2 of the 4 nominations she and her album received at AIM2005.

In her late teens, Juwita began to back leading Malaysian artistes at gigs, mega concerts and prominent award shows. Between work, studies, shows, rehearsals and other commitments she developed her personal versatility and was often called upon to record song demos for East Asian publishing houses. In fact, it was demos such as these which were eventually released and unexpectedly caught the attention of many a curious listener. One example is her rendition of “Breathe Again”, published by Warner Music Taiwan in a Soundtrack for Mandarin TV drama series ‘The Outsiders’.

In July 2003, while representing Malaysia at the YWCA World Council & International Women’s Summit in Brisbane, Australia, Juwita performed a song she wrote based on the theme, ‘Leading Change’. It expressed her passion to encourage especially youth to use their unique God-given capabilities to make a difference in society. This received an enthusiastic response from the audience of approximately 1,000 women from over 100 countries.

Since then, Juwita has performed at numerous events, youth rallies and concerts in Peninsular & East Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia as well as Australia. She was also the vocal coach for both seasons of Malaysian Idol and has guest coached on other reality shows.

Her long awaited sophomore album, 'For Real' includes songs written by Juwita, “Beautiful Lies” from the Original Soundtrack of the movie ‘Gol & Gincu’ and the classic “Desperado” made popular by The Eagles. They accentuate the realities of life as viewed by a young adult in a soulful yet fresh and contemporary urban style. The album, produced by Aubrey Suwito, Greg Henderson, Kieren Kuek and a collaboration with Faizal Tahir, sheds new light on Juwita as a vocalist and songwriter. It was also announced as one of the nominees in the 'Best Local English Album' category for AIM2007.

But that's not all. 'For Real' has also taken Juwita into international territory with her country win for the 2007 International Music Awards (IMA) in the Best Female Solo Artist category. The IMA was launched in 2006 by Music Aid and has now become a major focal point of Music Aid’s work on addressing global warming and climate change.

great song, great music, great voice! yeah everything is great!

A great return for Juwita!
After the debut AIM-winning album Brand New World back in 2004, it’s sophomore album time for singer-songwriter Juwita Suwito.

And with her new effort For Real, she’s gone the DIY indie route, releasing the album under new label Four Forty Records.

The album’s 10 tracks see Juwita heading into more acoustic pop rock territory for the most part, compared with the more pop soulful leanings of her debut effort. Especially with the first three tracks, Walk Away, Destiny’s Calling and All This Time, one would find that Juwita’s vocals lean towards a grittier, edgier style, yet layered with her familiar confidence and clarity.

The tracklisting also includes Walking Again, title track For Real and What’s On Your Mind.

There’s a duet featuring Faizul Tahir (Mayday!), and an interesting cover of the Eagles’ Desperado, but for the most part, Juwita once again showcases a burgeoning songwriting focus with six self-penned tracks, balancing well between the realms of acoustic pop rock, and the sweet ballads in Christian contemporary.

It may well be her voice, once again, that carries this effort through but the production quality of this album cannot be denied either, nor can her rising songwriting ability be ignored.

It’s a great return for Juwita and already some of the tracks have been played on air locally. The ballad Beautiful Lies was featured in local movie Gol & Gincu, while the one Malay number, Taman Sejati (penned by Juwita herself) is now rising in the Hot FM charts.

AIM Star does it For Real
AIM winner Juwita Suwito is back with her sophomore album For Real, a pop-rock-flavoured offering that promises fans not only her signature soulful voice, but also edgier sounds.

For those unfamiliar with Juwita, the singer/songwriter of Singaporean and Indonesian descent made her stunning debut two years ago with Brand New World which was chosen as Best Local English Album in AIM2005 (Anugerah Industri Muzik).

Writing half of the songs on For Real, she claimed that this latest offering is different.

“This time, my music edges more towards pop rock and urban sounds. The tracks are generally edgier and catchier.”

Indeed, Walk Away – the single she performed at the For Real official launch recently – is a brilliant pop-rock number that is in the same vein as Avril Lavigne or Kelly Clarkson...

That’s not all; the talented lass has also shown her flawless vocal range on an Eagles classic, Desperado.
