Soul Liberty - demo sessions

by Ka-Chi

A recipe of urban folk music that truly stems from the soul. Ka-Chi's style on acoustic guitar complements his soulful sound as he delivers haunting tales of truth. This is an introduction to a new age troubadour - good music with a message.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This artist uses a soulful voice and interesting rhythms to deliver meaningful lyrics in an entertaining yet mellow vibe.

Ka-Chi is of Nigerian descent and has lived in three continents, drawing material for his art from a wealth of cultural mixes and experiences. Music came at an early age, first as a listener from as far back as a toddler, then as a songwriter in pre teenage years when his parents brought home an electronic keyboard.

Academics became the focus as teenage years came by. Ka-Chi studied the sciences, but continued to write songs and poems. Academics led to Baltimore MD where Ka-Chi completed studies to become an Electrical Engineer. In 2004, music came around full circle and returned in the form of an acoustic guitar. Ka-Chi began putting his songwriting skills to work again, this time with a new instrument.

The musical journey has led to a growing list of eclectic songs with a signature acoustic soul/folk flavor. Lyrical dexterity is the underlying strength - the ability to tell stories and deliver messages over entertaining rhythms and with such soul, are some endearing qualities of the music.

Ka-Chi has released "Soul Liberty-Demo Sessions" a 5 song EP, as an introduction to his sound and musical direction. The follow up full length album is due out 4th quarter 2007. Join in his growth by coming out to a show, telling a friend, signing the mailist, or getting a CD. Visit www.kachilive.com for detailed information.

“Ka-Chi’s song (Give my) Soul Liberty entertains, soothes and inspires. He implores you to take control of your future and steer your destiny to the direction you want.”

"(Give my) Soul Liberty" is one of the best songs by an indie artist that I've heard in a really long time (and I hear a LOT of indie music)."

STORYS BEHIND THE SONGS AS TOLD BY THE ARTIST

(Give my) Soul Liberty

- A self empowering song. I wrote this in December 2005 with the New Year a few days away when contemplating on resolutions for the coming Year. I was working a good paying job as an electrical engineer, but found no joy in getting up and going everyday, and I knew my heart was elsewhere (on music). My resolution was to get up and go do what I really wanted to do and take control of my destiny. Also to live for what I believe in, rather than what others tell me. I think its very relevant to everyone at one point or another. For various reasons, some seemingly very practical, we are often confined by what society at different levels expects from us, and are afraid to step out as the unique individuals that we are. View the lyrics in the song player for more clarification

Safe in these arms

- The first song I wrote on guitar in January 2005. Simple story, after spending a weekend out with my girlfriend, she told me she felt safe in my arms. There's no better inspiration than that! She went to bed, I said I'll be right there, then I pulled out my pen and pad and started writing. I finished this song in about 10 minutes, picked up my guitar and played some chords to it, and went to bed; and now it's turned out to be one of the most loved by audiences all over. If something so good and real could suddenly come to me so effortlessly, it must be what I've been sent to share. Spread the love:)
P.S. On certain versions of this song, you'll hear a quiet baseline and some keyboards thrown-in at the chorus. That's my long time friend Ojay. This was one of his favorites after I recorded the original track. He came down from NYC to Baltimore for a weekend said he had a few ideas for the song, so we headed right into the Katchy Sounds studio and laid it down.

Date With the Law

- A song I wrote as a composite of a few negative experiences dealing with the police. Nothing personal or malicious, just raw expression. I wrote this after returning home in Towson from Baltimore city one evening after being pulled over. It brought back memories of a few irregular traffic stops and I just wrote it as it came to me. Oh, and I don't own a gun either.

This is real stuff ... music from the heart, for the soul.
The artist's voice truly compliments the songs. It is soothing, calming, strong and compelling all at once! I cannot imagine the inspiring words of the songs being better delivered than Kachi has done with the music of the guitar. Greatness is made of stuff like this... real music inspired by heart, created to feed the soul...

Ka-chi music is truly soul at its CORE!!
Kachi brings a very eclectic blend of soul, raggae and I think afro soul (If there is such a genre).
With his simple and smooth riffs, he definitely captures the essence of his music, which I think is buried in thought and emotions.
He truly is an artist to watch..so watch out!!!!
