ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
We're calling this album Project Germany, because most of the songs were written and recorded in Germany. We worked with over 20 talented Christian artists/musicians/songwriters from Western Europe (mostly Germany), and Canada, which is why half the songs on this album is in German, and covers many different genres of music. You can read their bios on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Kairos-1689319637957472/ and/or website: www.wearekairos.com.

Our core members consists of Sophia Cox, singer/rapper/songwriter, Benjie Baer, singer/guitarist/songwriter, Maureen Ough, singer/music director, and Remus Belu, singer/musician/music producer. We come from, and have lived, all over the world, we are very diverse musically and culturally, and the only thing that unites us is Christ and music...oh and we have all lived in Toronto, Canada at some point in our lives, which is where we met and formed our band.

Lord willing, we will continue to make music for Christ, collaborating with artist from all over the world. If you are interested in working with us, please email us at kairos.in.christ@gmail.com.

Below is a list of artists that contributed to the album, along with the songwriters/composers inspiration for each song.

Alive
Zac Morris (composer/songwriter), Remus Belu (composer/vocals/songwriter), Benjamin Binder (songwriter), Christin Merz (songwriter)
The idea of the song was to invoke freedom and a letting go of stress; freedom to just enjoy and be alive. Then later the song was transformed to what truly gives freedom, which is the Lord and being alive in Him. While recording the album in Germany, we had rewritten the song to make it more gospel-centered.

Life At Sea
Benjamin Bär (songwriter/vocals/guitar), Sophia Cox (rapper/vocals), Maureen Ough (vocals), Jerrit Andersen (drums)
The inspiration for this song came from my experience of the “ups” and “downs” in life, times of fulfillment, but also “waves” of discouragement and loneliness. Jesus is the one who gives hope when there seems to be so little light. This song was originally written in German, and translated to English for this album.

Behold Your Mighty King
Benjamin Bär (songwriter/vocals/guitar), Remus Belu (vocals), Maureen Ough (vocals), Sophia Cox (vocals), Jonatas Leal (guitar), Andreas Kaufmann (drums)
The “bulk” of this song came together within 24 hours at our second recording session together in Canada in June 2015. As I was reading Psalm 103, the idea of God establishing his kingdom over the heavens and the hosts of heaven worshipping him, spoke to me. One word that reoccurs in the passage is “…on those who fear Him”. I liked the thought that what unites the body of Christ around the world is respect and honor to the King of Kings. The bridge is an expression of that: “We are of those who fear you/we are of those who seek your face”. Ultimately the goal of this song was to take as much Scripture as possible and lay it down on a beautiful melody to engage hearts in worship to the King of the universe.

Emmaus
Josia Haupt (songwriter/vocals), Benjamin Binder (vocals), Jonathan Nill (guitar), Andreas Kaufmann (drums)
The song is inspired by the story of the two disciples on the way to Emmaus; after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus (Lk 24:13-35). It tells the amazing story of how Jesus meets the two men in their desperate situation explaining them the scripture, all pointing at Him, and finally revealing Him to the disciples and opening their eyes to the great things He has done. The desire and prayer behind the song is that listeners have a similar experience to the disciples’: That their eyes are opened and they come to realize the greatness and beauty of Jesus, because he did all this and finished it all for you and me!

Jesus You’re My Destiny
Benjamin Bär (songwriter/vocals/guitar), Remus Belu (vocals), Maureen Ough (vocals), Sophia Cox (vocals), Samuel Hermle, Jonatas Leal (guitar), Andreas Kaufmann (drums)
I remember this song coming together a few years ago when I was playing guitar on a field outside of Korntal, Germany; the town I was living in at the time. The sun was out and it was summer. As I played this fun jazz chord progression, my heart was filled with thanks as I pondered on what Christ has done for me. I was reminded of Philippians 2,6ff where it says that Jesus “did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but made himself nothing…”. He really “went all out” for me, who I once was separated from God by my sin. The song connects the “basics” of the gospel with a fun melody.

Mercy
Remus Belu (composer), Eliane Atallah (songwriter), Maureen Ough (vocals)
This poem is my testimony and the story of how God's mercy brought me out of darkness, into repentance and new life in Christ. This poem was written with tears for the lost and with the hope that God would use these words to remind us that though we are unworthy, He is merciful. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Passion
Conny Kim (composer/piano)
God gave me an insight of His compassionate heart. Reflecting all the suffering and harm in this fallen world, I believe in true peace because God is greater and His love is stronger than anything.

God Is My Happiness
Felix Unger (songwriter/vocals)
I wrote this song to describe the message of Christmas for my family. I got my inspiration from Psalm 73:28 "But as for me, it is good to be near to God". We will only find true happiness and fulfillment when we are near to God.

Lasse Los
Andrea Hess (songwriter/vocals), Samuel Hermle (guiter), Anna Brenner (vocals)
It´s probably easier to say "I forgive you“ than to really let go. What if you´re almost used to the pain of disappointment and injury? It holds you back from doing His will. You need time, and giving it up and leaving the pain in God´s hands to truly be set free. This song was inspired by my life experiences, a lot of tears, and by God's grace, a forgiving heart .

Dwelling Place
Benjamin Bär (songwriter/vocals), Sophia Cox (vocals), Maureen Ough (vocals), Fabian Welz (guitar), Nicolai Frasch (violin), Shirley Francois (cello), Samuel Hermle (guitar)
While on a voluntary year of work in a local church in Cambodia, I had lots of phases of tiredness, uncertainty, and a feeling of loneliness. During these times the Psalms that spoke of God being my dwelling place encouraged me. Growing up as a ThirdCultureKid, I have never really known where my geographical home is, but a deep sense of home being with God has grown over the years. He is the true dwelling place of all of those who trust in him. And this dwelling place is secure throughout the ages and all the troubles we face!

Ezekiel's Song
Christin Merz (songwriter), Remus Belu (vocals), Benjamin Bär (vocals), Maureen Ough (vocals), Nicolai Frasch (violin), Shirley Francois (cello), Andreas Kaufmann (drums)
Inspired by the wish to write a song about each book in the Bible, I was amazed at how often the book of Ezekiel based godly decisions on the words "so they will know that I am the Lord". Calling him "Lord" often in my prayers, without having a deeper connection to this title, I went on a journey through the book and came out in the end with this song, which is written from the perspective of Ezekiel; how he might have put into words what God showed him. It left me with a deeper understanding of who our Lord is, and an expression of my profound longing to making His name known.

Mein Land
Judith Matthies (songwriter/vocals/piano), Shirley Francois (cello)
I started writing "Für mein Land" when I came back from a missions trip to Thailand, and realized that there is a great need and emptiness in my own country. Though the needs of the people here might be less obvious, you can see how far people are from happiness and God when you look into their eyes. I started to beg God to meet my people and this country, so that people would turn back to Him and find healing and joy in Him.

Time With You
Samuel Hermle (Composer), Remus Belu (vocals), Sophia Cox (rapper),
Time With You started out as a love song. A simple idea, giving/spending all your time with one person. But as it grew, the song became a love song for God; appreciating that no matter what, He is there with us, even if we are not there for Him. A crush can fade, but God's love will never fade.

Way of Love
Conny Kim (composer/piano) , Shirley Francois (cello), Sophia Cox (vocals)
The inspiration to put lyrics to the instrumental “Passion" came from the Lord putting it on my heart right after we wrapped up recording in Germany, and were vacationing in Amsterdam. The piece is so beautiful in itself, but I thought it would have a real impact if lyrics were added. My initial idea was to write a completely new song, but after a while I realized how hard it was to do so given the different levels of the song; its not in the common format as most songs are. Before writing I always pray and ask the Lord to take complete control as to what He wants me to write. After many attempts to produce lyrics, I felt a calling to open my bible to 1 Corinthians chapter 13, titled “The Way of Love”. I read over the chapter with passion playing and it was a perfect fit. At that moment I knew that that was the message the Lord wanted me to promote. The words of 1 Corinthians 13 are what truly drives and enables Christians through the Holy Spirit to do God’s will. Everything we do should be done out of love. Also it beautifully explains what love is to us which ultimately we know is God himself; and as Christians how magnificent it is to truly know what love is as opposed to what the world tell us it is. So ultimately this piece is meant to encourage and cause believers to love according to God’s design and for unbelievers to understand what love truly is.

Life at Sea (German)
Benjamin Bär (songwriter/vocals/guitar), Micha Braun (rapper), Andrea Hess (vocals)
The inspiration for this song came from my experience of the “ups” and “downs” in life, times of fulfillment, but also “waves” of discouragement and loneliness. Jesus is the one who gives hope when there seems to be so little light.
