Album Notes
"Kara Kesselring & Sugarcreek Road prove that a collection of great songs can be a spirited journey home. This album has all the sweet storytelling, gorgeous vocals, and top-notch musicianship, that a satisfying drive across country needs. A great listen!"
-Sue Demel- Sons of the Never Wrong

I realize my songs fit different genres.  They tend to be in a folk/americana vain which taps into the nostalgia of my rural Iowa roots, or the darker, jazz/pop side that has an edgier nature.  The juxtaposition of these styles reminds me of a saying that my family has used for years.  "Hurry up and relax".  Though counterintuitive, it encapsulates my constant need for balance.  I struggle with being a singer, pianist, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a friend, an educator, a writer.  I have been performing many of these songs for years and it's a treat to have them recorded.  Others have been bouncing around in my head, but never performed. Chris Cash, Patrick Williams and the other talented crew of musicians have helped me get these songs fresh off the press.  I can’t wait to perform them for you live.  These songs are my past and present reflections on life, love, loss, aging, and humor.  Enjoy!

A little of a lot of things
From twang-tinged folk to pretty pop and on through to a smattering of jazz....plus a lullaby.....this album spans a great range of genres with ease. Backed by some clearly rock-solid musicians and her own deeply versatile vocals, Kara Kesselring deftly leads the charge on this new album from Sugarcreek Road. Enjoyable on so many levels, and organized really well in terms of the energy and genre shifts, many tastes will be satiated by this album!

Fresh new album
Hurry Up and Relax is a fresh blend of Americana, with a touch of country-soul. Great song-writing and vocal performances; with a kick-a band and stellar arrangements. Two thumbs way up for this new release by Kara Kesselring & Sugarcreek Road!

Remember when music made you happy--plain simple happy--touched something inside you, and made you feel like someone out there knew how you felt? The art of folk music is just that, and perfectly captured this wonderful album. A journey forward yes, but back as well to the first day you heard a song that changed forever what music would mean to you. How would not keep coming home to that?

Soulful and Joyous
Hurry Up and Relax is an absolute delight. Kara's voice is deliciously sweet and the songs blend beauty, sadness and joy in a way that will keep you still and listening. So glad I found this album!

Singin' along
What a great collection of fun and pretty and sad/nostalgic tunes all in one place. I'm singing along and getting lost in the lyrics that seem to force reflection of your past, present and future. Great songwriting, beautiful voice. It has been a while since I've listened to an album from start to finish, but I'm so glad to have done just that. This album is like a story and I get lost in it every time.

Pleasing to my ears!
Kara's songs tell a story...she's very visual with her lyrics! This is a great album for road trips. A little country, a little jazz, a little Americana...it's a pleasing album to all ears! Kara's voice is beautiful.
