Album Notes
Karen Biehl, the creator of the “Journey to True Love”, “Journey to True Health” and “Journey to True Purpose” guided meditation series, has released her first album of solo music: “Starlight Dreams”, a collection of evocative etudes for piano.

"Starlight Dreams" was named “Best Solo Piano Album 2018” by New Age Music Guide and ranked #4 on their top 10 albums of 2018. The album has also been nominated for the “Best Neo Classical Album 2-18” award for One World Music Radio’s awards in June 2019.

“Starlight Dreams” was composed, performed and recorded entirely by Karen, who is a classically trained musician and former opera singer. In addition to being relaxing, invigorating and enjoyable to listen to, these tone poems aim to inspire others to connect to their true purpose so they are able to achieve their dreams, as they are written in the stars.

Whether as a standalone piece or as background in a guided meditation, Karen Biehl’s compositions combine romantic classical lyricism with meditative empowerment to assist listeners in achieving an enhanced and peaceful sense of self-awareness and purposeful focus.

The album includes her composition “Invocation” which has aired regularly on KMStudio Classical Radio for the last two years and has been on their top 100 list. Performances of the etudes “Autumn Amble” and “Chanson des Vents” at Roosevelt High School, under the direction of Maestro Joseph Lento, have aired on Channel 75 WDMC-TV in Westchester County, New York.

In Karen’s words: “Ever since I was very young, I have felt a profound sense of connection to the stars and to a man I always knew I would meet. During difficult times, I would find comfort in the stars, which I felt connected me to my True Purpose and to my True Love. The piece “Invocation” was written to my True Love, before we had met, in the hope of calling him to me. We actually met in 2013 and have been together since. It is my hope that my creations will help others awaken to their dreams and visions, so they too can fulfill them.”

“Starlight Dreams” begins with the piece “Awakenings” which sets the tone for awakening to your true calling as experienced in your dreams. In “Invocation” (track 2), you deepen your connection to and summon your dreams so you can then experience the joying feeling of “Union” (track 3).

Each piece tells a story about the journey of longing for and realizing your dreams, whether through the reverie of “Meditation on a Moonlit Lake”, the stirring of the wind in “Chanson des Vents” or the powerful release of your deepest desires to the universe in “On Angel Wings”.

The piece “Raindrops” reminds us that rain does not halt us on our path, but rather gives us a chance to reflect and relaxes and cleanses us so we can move forward anew.

When you finally realize your dream, you start a new life, hence the final piece is entitled “The Beginning”. As a postlude, “Meditation on a Moonlit Lake - Full Version” further reinforces the meditative empowerments already received in tracks 1-12.

Each listener will have their own experience of the compositions according to their own dreams and visions. Or…. if you prefer, you can just listen because you simply enjoy the music or find it relaxing and energizing!

A collection of sparkling compositions
Karen Biehl is a new artist to me, but one that during this release has delivered some very fascinating moments of musical bliss. Starlight Dreams is an album of thirteen solo tracks, mostly piano, and each one is delicately created with care and attention to detail, and a perfect journey of tone to voyage with.
The opening piece is the bright and energetic offering Awakenings, a composition that sets the scene perfectly for us the ever eager listener. She then follows that up with the quite smooth and tranquil Invocation, an offering that is steeped in the traditional new age style and delivered with such a delicious and skilful performance.
There was one track though that captured my heart completely, we can find this nestled in the middle of the album, it is called The Journey. As a listener, I felt transported by the tone and energy of this offering, one that seems to flow all around me like an incoming tide, a sublime piece indeed.
With tracks like the passionate and very beautiful Starlight Waltz, a track that one could easily sweep your partner up onto the dance floor with, to the deeply felt Autumn Amble, where whilst listening one is given a vista of falling leaves and sun kissed lanes, with a little emotive reflection as well, and then the surprise piece, the quite amazing revisiting of an earlier composition on the album called Meditation on a Moonlit Lake, which would be my personal favourite on the release, with lush synths and keyboards, what a fantastic way to leave the album.
Starlight Dreams by Karen Biehl has something that is wonderful, she is completely unique, when listening to the album one can feel a really powerful energy; a healing essence can be felt from its construction and while certain solo piano albums can sometimes come across as feeling a little to technical and cold, Starlight Dreams has a real warmth about its collection of sparkling compositions that is so very appealing.

The Masters are Channeled
Maestra Biehl's Music is the convergence of the late 19th and early 20th Century Masters in the present. The Classical and Renaissance influences are undeniable with reminders of Medieval Music as they come to life in works that stir the Soul and embraces every hope and dream in one's Heart. This collection will bring you joy, hope and comfort. It's a must have for your collection.

Graceful and evocative!
Classically trained vocalist, pianist and violinist Karen Biehl creates music she describes as “combining romantic classical lyricism with meditative empowerment to assist listeners in achieving an enhanced and peaceful sense of self-awareness and purposeful focus.” Starlight Dreams,” her first album of solo piano music, is a collection of powerful tone poems that might serve as background music for guided meditation but are strong enough to stand on their own as individual compositions.

The album opens with “Awakenings”, a stirring number which opens the listener to the spiritual musical journey ahead. “Invocation” is plaintive and questioning, like a heartfelt prayer, answered by the subsequent track, the fiery and passionate “Union.”

“Meditation on a Moonlit Lake” is peaceful and reflective, its left hand rippling like the surface of the water in the moonlight and right hand chords sparkling like stars in the night sky. The romantic “Chanson des Vents” put me in mind of a Chopin etude, a lyrical study in thirds. Stirring and intense, “On Angel Wings” is meant to depict the release of one’s deepest desires to the universe.

The dark and stormy “Raindrops” is the perfect segue into the “Starlight Waltz,” a romantic dance, which is followed by “Promenade,” a tender walk home. “Autumn Amble” is quiet and thoughtful; “The Beginning” shares the joy at the prospect of realizing the dream of starting a new life although there is also a touch of sadness and a hint of regret. As a postlude, “Meditation on a Moonlit Lake - Full Version” is a lusciously orchestrated experience of its own and is my favorite track on the album.

With “Starlight Dreams,” Karen Biehl makes a graceful entrance into the genre of solo piano music. Recommended!
