ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
My Father, That’s My Father is an inspirational, theatrically-tinged pop vocal written and sung by Karen Soroca to honor all fathers and especially to honor her late father, Sol Soroca. Karen says “I was fortunate enough to have the most wonderful father for so many years. His great example taught me how to live life fully”. Enjoy Karen’s lyrical voice and the gentle rhythms of the quietly powerful piece enhanced by drums, guitar, piano and bass.

The story behind the song description as told by artist/composer Karen Soroca:

MY FATHER, THAT’S MY FATHER!

This inspirational/theatrical pop song was written to honor my father, Sol Soroca, and all loving fathers. I was fortunate enough to have the most wonderful father for so many years. His great example taught me how to live life fully.

My father loved lyrical songs with beautiful melodies, whether it was an opera aria sung by Pavarotti or a tune crooned by Sinatra. Keeping my father’s preferences in mind, this song was originally written for voice, piano and guitar, however, after recording these 3 parts, I kept hearing a simple drum part which led to the additional of a bass and, finally, some additional percussion.

While going through a family photo album, I came across a photo which I used for the CD cover. It was taken by my mother in the 1950s. We were in Woodside, Queens, NY, where we lived. My father looks so happy driving my brother, Lee (2 years old) and me (6 years old), in his Chevy. Dad, you will always be a part of me!
