ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A Soft Florida Rain
Ng Sings Juusela
A Soft Florida Rain sets thirteen of my favorite poems to original music, along with the title track, which I wrote after being washed by drops from a drifting Florida rain-cloud. For this art-song project, I had the giddy pleasure of collaborating with Stephen Ng, whose beautiful, rich, and expressive tenor voice has always entranced me. While the styles of the music range from insistent modal grooves to expressive atonality, and while the moods of the songs vary from the whimsical to the foreboding, I always work to celebrate the marriage of word and music. I hope you will enjoy listening to these offerings as much as I enjoyed creating them.
