Album Notes
Lacing elements of electronica, rock, pop and jazz through a danceable groove, San Francisco's Karmacoda emit a hybrid sound that is both modern and emotional. To expose a more personal side is what the band set out to do with Eternal, their fourth studio album, which was released on Sola Musa Music on August 2, 2011, and gained instant momentum, cracking the CMJ Radio 200 Chart at #191.

Hovering around a central theme of transformation; love, loss, and evolution show up as story lines in the songs, pulling instrumental inspiration from a myriad of decades. AllMusic.com finds, I Am Just Not Listening Any Longer's ...reflective, but not completely somber tone, is a strong effort, a classic statement of soul-burnt emotion." Bassist Eric Matsuno gets back to his jazz roots on Feel The Weight, walking through what AllMusic.com describes as "...a sweet, buttery chorus".

Karmacoda enlist a little help from their friends, putting to use talents from the West Coast's rich music scene, including Beth Hirsch (of Air Moon Safari fame) and Anji Bee (Lovespirals) who join vocalists B. and Heather Pierce on the chillout concept tune, Love Will Turn Your Head Around, prompting Glide.com to deem it, "the gem of the album; dark, languid, and teasingly dangerous".

It's been over a decade since co-founders B. (Brett Crockett) and Heather Pierce met in the lobby of their vocal coach's studio. What started as an experimental music project while the two were in between bands, has turned into four studio albums, two remix records and a live album. Frail, the first song they wrote together was featured in the 2003 independent film, Paris. Bassist, Eric Matsuno joined the band during the release of their 2007 success, Illuminate. Keyboard player, Isaac Ho added his magic to Eternal's 2011 tour and rounds out the current lineup.

From the beginning, Karmacoda have recorded their albums at The Amsterdam Room, B.'s personal studio. In 2009 the band built The Briefing Room, a combined rehearsal space and recording studio on Treasure Island, in the heart of the San Francisco Bay. Eternal was recorded at both studios and was mastered by Andy VanDette (Metric, U2, David Bowie) at Masterdisk, New York.

While their albums have always featured stellar production, live, the band brings an emotional intensity generated by their dynamic performances, more akin to a rock show than a DJ set.

Eternal builds upon the organic meets electric sound Karmacoda has been cultivating since their inception, and is filled with lush musical landscapes, hooky choruses, moving vocal performances and melodies that linger. TrippinTheRift.com states, "In A Little Bit is guaranteed to get stuck in your head for days thanks to its catchy piano loop and the crystal bells of Heather Pierce's voice."
