Karmine Alers was born and raised in Spanish Harlem. She has been singing since the age of 13, which later led her to study voice at the high school of music and art. At 17 she joined a 3 girl vocal group which took her on the road performing all over the states.

Sophisticated, mature, music with a hip edge
I first heard Karmine in the Broadway show RENT and fell in love with her voice. I have been waiting for this CD for a few years now and it was well worth the wait. There is no filler on FOR YOU. All these tracks are well produced and are all worthy of being a top ten Billboard Chart single.
It Matters To Me, in my opinion, showcases Karmine's range best.
The vocals on and Burn are just simply exquisite - a great display of Karmine's vocal abilities.
Other Plans has that hip rocker chick vibe to it, think Kelly Clarkson.
I Missed You is pretty much an anthem for all young people who don't get along with their parents.
Out Tonight (from RENT) is even more rocking on this CD than in the show if you can believe that.
Sister, Sister is an empowering mid-tempo song that shows the importance of being a strong woman and not having to take a guys negativity.
I Survived You is the quintessential heartbreak song. It's a mature way of saying "I'm better without you."
and the Out Tonight-Dance Remix puts a new spin on Out Tonight that makes you want to get up and, as the title of the song says, dance!
In conclusion, this CD is an amazing listen and has been on repeat since I got it in the beginning of September. If you want good music - look no further, buy this CD and support this amazingly talented sweet woman.

Absolutely phenomenal!
Like many, I first heard of Karmine from Rent, and became a huge fan of hers. This CD is absolutely beautiful. Karmine says she believes in the healing power of music, and that really shines through. There's so much on this CD, the strength from love-gone-wrong song, the fun song, the girl power song. And then there's the song, Out Tonight, that has become such a huge part of her life, that showcases her PHENOMENAL voice! I heard that song and I was absolutely floored-I didn't even know her voice could do that! I would recommend this CD to anyone...I lent it to my friends and they all fell in love with it!
