Album Notes
Single motherhood, chronic pain and illness would be enough in many lives to saddle oneself to a life of dreams unfulfilled but not so with a vocalist hailing from the midwestern city of Columbus, OH. Her name is Kate Ross and this latest of her journey represented by this recording you hold, as an artist is teeming with optimism and opportunity. The menu of selections on the disk is an eclectic mix of songs designed to appeal to a myriad of listening tastes.
Ross in her late 30’s starting singing at a club called, “The Stardust” which served as a launch pad for Ross’ professional career. Since The Stardust, Ross has worked many of the local clubs and restaurants on the Columbus scene including The Sidebar Restaurant. The local Columbus scene also gave Ross her opportunities to sing with other bands in different circumstances, learning and honing her skill set along the way. Through it all, since her mid twenties Kate has had to deal with a major, debilitating physical malady suffering with degenerative disc disease, a condition only aggravated by a couple of car accidents, and two broken necks.
This is Ross’ first recorded project. She’s always wanted to have her own CD and through this release hopes it will serve as an inspiration for her children and others suffering from debilitating illnesses to let them know that anything you’d want to achieve in life is possible regardless of your circumstances if you work hard enough.
Ross notes, “This has been an unbelievable journey and God has blessed me with people in my life who have steered me in the right direction.” Kate Ross’ journey in life or on the bandstand is authentic, filled with joy, pain and ultimate triumph. It is soulful. It is a snapshot of her story to this date. As you listen to the assemblage of song, may you get caught up in her soulfulness as she reminds us that people make the world go round.
