Album Notes
On a quiet afternoon, with the bustle of Times Square only steps away, jazz singer Kat Gang and pianist extraordinaire Tedd Firth met at the dimly lit Birdland Jazz Club. With a laptop and just a few microphones, they set out to capture the magic of four lesser-known jazz standards. The result is this intimate and elegant EP, which blends the jazz and cabaret styles.

Kat has a soul steeped in jazz. Born in Boston she began her music theory training as a teenager at Berklee and then fell in love with the energy of New York City and went on to gain her BFA from NYU. She escaped the Bush administration by seeking asylum in the UK and studying music at the Royal Academy in London. Kat lived and worked singing jazz all over England for seven years. She has performed twice at the GRAMMY Awards with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, as well as many notable jazz clubs in town including Birdland, The Iridium, The Friar's Club, and The Oak Room to name a few. She continues to explore the depth of jazz fusion and improvisation with her versatile, extraordinary ear and voice.

Tedd Firth is a New York City based accompanist, jazz pianist and arranger. As an accompanist he has worked with Tom Wopat, Lee Ann Womack, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Maureen McGovern, Faith Prince, Linda Lavin, Jane Olivor, Darius DeHaas, Marilyn Maye, Karen Akers, Rob Evan, Mary Cleere Haran, Margaret Whiting, Carol Sloane, Bob Stewart, Marlene VerPlanck, Nancy Marano, Barbara Brussell, K.T. Sullivan, Claiborne Cary, Craig Rubano and many others.

Among the jazz musicians he has performed or recorded with are John Pizzarelli, Houston Person, Frank Wess, Mark Whitfield, Red Holloway, Benny Golson and Joe Morello. New York appearances include Carnegie Hall, the Blue Note, Birdland, the Iridium, the Algonquin, the Cafe Carlyle, Feinstein's at the Regency, the Rainbow Room, Town Hall, the Russian Tea Room and Gracie Mansion. Numerous national appearances include a performance at the White House.

As an arranger/orchestrator, Tedd's work has been performed by Peter Nero and the Philly Pops, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Ocean City (NJ) Pops, the Stamford (CT) Symphony and the Spokane Jazz Orchestra. Television appearances include "The Today Show", "All My Children" and "The Caroline Rhea Show".
