Album Notes
There once was a band called Kindness. Katharine Cole led this female rock band for two glorious years (2000-2001) along with the stellar Dawn Richardson on drums and electronics. Dawn had recently left the one hit wonder 4 Non Blondes, Katharine Cole had just disbanded her own band, and along with Carrie Baum (and later guitar virtuoso Shelley Doty), Katharine and Dawn created what was to become the very first "rocktronia" band in the San Francisco Bay Area. All the electronic sounds you hear, including backup vocal tracks and samples, were triggered live by a special rig Dawn Richardson created using various electronic gear mounted to her drum set. Her expertise as a drummer and her keen technical skills created a brand new sound for the rock clubs at the turn of the 21st Century. It was this solid bed of sound that Katharine's searing vocals and the roaring distortion from lead guitarist Carrie Baum chiseled to create the songs on this album.
