The songs are a cool hybrid of jazz, smooth jazz and pop, infused with blues, r & b, gospel, each in a classic songwriting form, exposing Kathleen's love of the great songwriters, from Gershwin to Leon Russell to Stevie Wonder.

From the swinging "No More Room", to the funky "The River Is Wide", to the gorgeous instrumental "Rialto", to the breath-taking ballad "Far Too Late", and lush title track, "Brand New Day", this CD delivers a beautiful melange of moods and grooves, and is a world class recording that will have mass appeal to lovers of Jazz, Blues, Pop, R & B and Smooth Jazz. Beautifully recorded, acoustic grand piano, outstanding rhythm section, supported by bluesy organ, great guitar solos, soulful sax and even gorgeous cello.

"A brilliant composer and lyricist, the talented Kathleen Gorman invites us on a journey of the heart, exposing universal intimacies which resonate from the opening note of "Brand New Day"to the closing instrumental,"Ain't The Way". Soulful, poignant and uplifting. Kathleen takes her rightful place as a blues and jazz diva, producing one of the best new original albums of the year. " -- Paula Arab, Calgary Herald Columnist / Editorial Board.

" Her voice has a certain sophistication and grace: A beautiful, refined and elegant instrument which conveys love and a certain sense of longing. Ms. Gorman is a song stylist who has crafted her very own, singular approach to the art of singing which is remarkable as we live in an age where singers usually don't embrace individuality and often emulate the vocal stylings of others." - Steve Getz, THE JAZZ NETWORK

"Kathleen is a talented vocalist, accomplished pianist and a very polished composer. Stay tuned......." - Chuck Bolger, "Jazz or Something Like It", 91.7 FM WMUH Allentown, PA, USA.

Kathleen Gorman has taken her place among Bonnie Raitt, Nora Jones, and Al Kooper in the blues-tinged jazz-pop firmament. She sings, plays, writes, composes and produces with the best of them, making music rooted in jazz that is accessible and contemporary...a fantastic new contemporary voice!
- Jon Burr ( Jazz Artist, Bassist, Composer)

"BRAND NEW DAY ......................... is the precise point where jazz meets smart pop. The songs are every bit as
good as the playing -- and that's saying a lot, when one takes a look at the talented players on board."

Mark Rheaume - CBC Radio

" .... a wonderful talent . " - Sheila Jordan, jazz legend

Performing, writing and recording for years in both Montreal and Toronto, she is delighted to release her first full length studio album, which combines elements of musical influences, ranging from the Jazz legends like Duke Ellington, Monk, Billy Holiday, to Gershwin, Michel Legrand, Nina Simone, Dr. John, Joe Sample, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Sting, Steely Dan, Bruce Hornsby, Bonnie Raitt, Jamie Cullum, and many more.

These songs are lovely vignettes of life, longing, love, betrayal, and self acceptance.
The complete lyrics are included in a beautiful 12 page CD booklet. Enjoy!

I've lately been listening to Kathleen Gorman's superb and beautiful piano style and her bluesy/jazz vocals...this woman definitly has want they use to call 'it'. From the wonderful 'The river is wide','Brand new day' to 'What does it take' and 'Rialto', there's not a bad apple in the whole bunch. I hear echoes of Sarah Vaughn, Bonnie Raitt and others in her vocal stylings but she still has her own 'voice'. Stone simplicity is probably one of the hardest thing to achieve (in any art form)...but it's results are magnificant. And that is what Kathleen has done. Beautifully concieved and executed. There are alot of talented musicians and songwriters around but only a handfull that I considered to be 'original' and inspired musician with the ability to send shivers up and down one's spine. Beautiful music sung and played by an authentic and original artist.

You like jazz and blues? You’ll love this CD! You like smooth jazz and/or pop? You’ll love this CD too. There’s a little of everything here, plus a whole lotta true soul. Kathleen Gorman is a consummate musician (songwriter, singer and pianist) with a sterling voice and a sincerity and warmth that will take your breath away. She brings her own songs so much to life that you’ll be singing along after only a few bars and still humming them a few days later. “Brand New Day” is one of those rare albums on which every single track is absolutely gripping and listenable, so it’s impossible for me to list my favorites. Congratulations to Kathleen and the impeccable musicians who join her on this CD.

For his first CD, Kathleen does something great. She is not only a talented keyboard player but also a fantastic singer in the style of the best Jazz vocalists like Natalie Cole ; But it is all originality.
I love the instumental title "Rialto" and my favourite song is "Survival".
I especially recommand this beautiful CD which is very well recorded too.

Simply beautiful
Kathleen did a beautiful CD and a great recording. Her voice sings along with her piano like you should expect it from the greatest classical Jazz vocal standards. All the songs are well down and I love especially "Survival".
Blues is a true inspiration for Kathleen and she does it so good.
This original artist is to be dicovered, she's already a real reference. Just get her CD right now!
