Album Notes
Written, arranged, performed, and produced by Kathryn Joy Foster, The Rock is one of the latest additions to her diverse music catalog. The driving force behind the music is the moving Latin beat while the lyrics resounds stability—you shall not be moved. Together, the electric current extends unbroken praise to the Defender and Sustainer of Life whose uninterrupted assignment is to always keep you safe and secure. Borrowing from the Strong Concordance, the word “maintain” in I Kings 8:59 is defined as: “to preserve you from failure or decline; to sustain you against opposition and danger; and to uphold and defend you” from hurt, harm or danger. Throughout the scriptures, you will notice a number of metaphors resembling the soundness of God’s incomparable character. For example, the psalmist David constantly refers to the Lord as his Rock of Salvation, Shield, Refuge, Fortress, Buckler, High Tower and other designations. Knowing the words David penned have been proven, The Rock reflects lyrics contained in Psalms 60-62. As you employ these indisputable names during private and public worship, your faith will catapult in Jesus Christ’s faithfulness to receive His unfailing promise to protect you, even down to the nanosecond. It is a knowing that the Lord is your surrounding force field that never leaves you without a refuge. You will have the assurance that you will receive your breakthrough without anyone, anywhere at any time breaching security. You may ask: how is this possible? Naturally, water can wear a rock, but supernaturally, Jesus Christ, The Rock remains incorruptible. Even when he faced death, Jesus may have asked: Oh death, where is your sting? Oh grave, where is your victory? Death was porous to Him so our Savior penetrated it to conquer it once and for all. Now His testimony is this: He lives forever. Therefore Jesus qualifies to be your permanent bodyguard—a fearless defender who never abandons His post, not even once. He will never leave you physically or forsake you emotionally. Hidden in Jesus, you will find He has already taken the lethal “hit” that was meant for you. Hidden from the enemy, you maintain unshaken because the defeated foe can’t find you because you reside in the inaccessible safe house. So you may ask, how can you receive preservation and restoration of life, property, etc.? Be determined to never live without Jesus. Then your participation is made active as you pay attention to His every move. Stay in sync with Holy Spirit and never walk away from the only One who can keep you from falling. That’s how you are left standing impenetrable. “And let these words, wherewith I have made my supplication before the Lord, be nigh unto the Lord our God, day and night, that He may maintain the cause of His people Israel [and you, His chosen inheritance] at all times as the matter shall require,” I Kings 8:59, KJV. Voice-activate scripture text like Psalm 121 King James Version (KJV) to cover daily: “ I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.” Photo credit: Robert L.
