Kathryn Rose Wood is a New Orleans-based songwriter, instrumentalist and clinical music therapist by way of Oahu's shores and Pennsylvania's hills.
Former bandleader/guitarist of Social Set (RnB/Pop, New Orleans) and co-lead vocalist for Gravy Flavored Kisses (Blues/Rock, New Orleans), Kathryn has been writing music for nearly 20 years as an outlet for expression and healing. Her songwriting clearly defines its intent to connect with the listener, and demonstrates its sincerity in the way she relates to her audience during performances. Her songs tell unique, deeply personal - and yet, universal - stories, with rich musical landscapes reflective of soul, folk, rock, RnB and pop stylings.
Kathryn Rose Wood's musical storytelling has undoubtedly left an imprint on those listening. She has been featured by American Songwriter Magazine as their website’s Daily Discovery (Feb. 11, 2016) for her song “Lullaby (to Preston)" and landed the honor of hosting and curating a weekly songwriter series, "Lilith in Loa," (June 2016-present) at LOA Bar (New Orleans, LA) on the strength of her original compositions. In addition, her music has been featured on the New Orleans' WWL Morning Show, WWOZ 90.7 FM Radio and WTUL 91.5 FM Radio.
Most recently, Kathryn completed a successful crowdfunding campaign for her forthcoming solo debut, "In the Ashes," featuring the singles "Lullaby (to Preston)" and "Big Steel Wings." The album, due out October 17, 2017, is a collection of music she wrote after her younger brother's suicide, following Kathryn's journey of grief, the stages of healing, and the aftermath of emotional effects a suicide leaves behind. It is Kathryn's goal to use music as catharsis not just for herself, but for those who listen; with "In the Ashes," she hopes others in her situation or her brother's will feel empathy, support, and encouragement.
