ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The King of Ragtime, Scott Joplin himself, arranged for publication of the young Joseph Lamb's "Sensation" in 1908, and there followed a stream of delightful piano rags from this composer's pen--so that soon he was considered (along with Joplin and James Scott) one of the "Big Three" of ragtime. Included in this album are some of Lamb's melodious and exuberant solos, ranging in mood from "Hot Cinders" to the prancing "Cleopatra" and the quiet contemplation of "The Alaskan Rag." Also included is "Shootin' the Works," previously thought lost, but found and published only in 2012. The composer's daughter, Patricia Lamb Conn, encouraged Kathy Teck to make this CD, using an upright piano just as the composer did in his lifetime, but also having fun with the colorul sounds available from electronic keyboards of today. A timeless selection of some of Joseph Lamb's best writing!
