Album Notes
Katie Ketchum began performing while she was still a piano and composition student at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada and won several competitions sponsored by Her Majesty, The Queen. She received a National Endowment for the Arts for her one person musical on the life of American painter Mary Cassatt while she was a theatre student at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Katie has taken her music on the road by touring the United States at universities, festivals, and concert halls, where she also advocates the use of alternative energy (the Electric Car association brought their cars to her concert on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.). Her albums have garnered a unique following, including Mother Teresa, who played Ketchum’s music in her healing centers throughout India. To date, her compositions make up 15 albums of original work and four musicals.

Katie began this work twenty- three years ago but completed it two years ago inspired by the recent English translations of “The Gospel of Mary of Magdala.” ‘ Magdalene’ Premiered at Spreckles Performing Arts Center in Rohnert Park, had a successful run at the Center for the Arts in Sebastopol, California and went on to critical acclaim in San Francisco and Sacramento. Albert Goodwyn of The San Francisco Bay Times said, “Mary Magdalene Story” is intense in both its onstage activity and it’s intellectual content. And it’s thoroughly enjoyable on a visceral level.”
