Album Notes
There is richness in simplicity.

In this live album recorded at the historic Urban Grace church in downtown Tacoma, WA (USA), Katie takes on the role of a vocal storyteller. Her interpretations of music from varied genres - sacred, folk, and operatic works - are rooted in the context of the time and place the songs were written and all that music encompasses. These simple live performances stem from history, tradition, the written word, and the true depths of human emotion.

The sacred songs tell the compelling story of God’s incredible love of humankind, sung with sincerity.

The operatic arias showcase Katie’s clear, agile soprano, and duets with two of the Puget Sound's most sought-after operatic performers show her versatility as a singing actress.

Finally, the explorations of folk music – literally “the people’s music” in Swedish – stem from oral tradition, passed down from one generation to the next. Their stories of history, myth, morality, and love of the land give a unique window into the past and the deeply-rooted values of a culture. With a vocal clarity and haunting quality, Katie’s interpretations of folk songs are informed by this rich background and colored by her own creative perspective.

Sacred Songs:

Ave Maria (Charles Gounod)*
Panis Angelicus (Cesar Franck)*
How Great Thou Art / O Store Gud (Traditional hymn, Swedish lyrics by Carl Boberg)*

Ye Banks and Braes o' Bonnie Doon (Traditional Scottish air from the Robert Burns poem)
She Moved Through the Fair (A haunting folk song from Ireland)

Ach, Ich Fühl's (Mozart - Die Zauberflöte, K. 620)*
Pamina has been spurned by her lover Tamino, and tells him of the distress he caused her.

Sul L'aria (Mozart - Le Nozze Di Figaro, K. 492)* - featuring soprano Jennifer Bromagen
The famous "letter duet" wherein Susanna and the Countess write a letter designed to catch the Count in his infidelity.

La Ci Darem La Mano (Mozart - Don Giovanni, K. 527)* - featuring baritone Daniel Oakden
Don Giovanni attempts to seduce Zerlina to leave her fiancé Masetto and "marry" him instead.

Que Fait Tu Blanche Tourterelle (Gounod - Romeo Et Juliette)*
Stephano, Romeo's young page tasked with protecting Juliet, stands outside of her house and taunts the Capulets.

Quel Guardo Il Cavaliere (Donizetti - Don Pasquale)*
Norina is amused by a romance novel - she already knows what really makes a man fall in love.
