Album Notes
I come from a musical family so I have genetics to thank for my talents. I've been playing guitar since I was 12, when I began six years of lessons that taught me the basics. In the spring of 2000, I began taking voice lessons at CCM (College Conservatory of Music) at University of Cincinnati. I took enough lessons to improve my range and vocal abilities.

I used to make tapes for people as presents when I was in college and had no money. A few years ago, a friend said to me, "Katie, my tape is wearing out. Can I have a new one?" I told her I'd do one better and proceeded to record my first CD of cover songs. In the following year, that CD made its way from Ohio to Portland to Australia and elsewhere. In the spring of 2002, people started getting itchy for another CD so I went into the studio and recorded another CD for friends, family and beyond. I have since recorded a Christmas album.

My songwriting path began in 2003. I've heard that something good or something bad has to happen to write your first song. During a trying time, I wrote my first original song, "Time for Goodbye". Since then, I've written more songs - most of them with a happier theme - that have been fun to introduce at the live shows.

I've been playing guitar and singing at various clubs in Cincinnati for about 4 years and singing for weddings since I was 17. Like many people, the reason I do this becomes crystal clear when I play for a live crowd. To watch people's reactions and see them sing along is worth all of the sound checks, lugging gear and money spent on equipment.

2005 was a milestone year because I released a CD of all original songs. I have always loved playing other people's songs but these are that much more important because they came from my heart. I'm excited to share them with all my fans!

This CD will be in my player for a long time
Katie's sound is soothing and soulful. This CD is easy to listen to and there's not a song on it that I don't like. This one will be on my play list for a long time to come. If I lived in Cinci, I would be a groupie! ;-)

Music hits the heart in a good way!
This is first time I've heard your music. It reminds me of one of my favorite singers for folk music. I know I will spell it wrong, but Allison Cross. Your music mad me cry in a good way.

An original approach to a classic style.
Very masterfully accomplished. A real treat to hear this artists approach to origianl music. A unique talent beyond compare. Keep up the challenging, but now very rewarding work.

It may be About Time, but it was worth the wait.
I have seen Katie perform live for the last few years and watched the evolution from singer to singer/songwriter. This latest effort is truly fantastic. The song Dating is especially amusing, but Lindsay Buckingham is the real gem.
