Album Notes
I have been inspired by many artists but more than any by Taylor Swift. She has been my motivator and inspiration since I was a little girl trying to figure out what interested me in life. Here is a little bio about my journey to creating my own music and becoming a songwriter, singer, musician, and artist.
I purchased my first guitar when I was ten, but really didn't play it that often. The strings broke and I didn’t quite know how to change them. Luckily, I started learning how to play piano when I was eleven so it filled my musical time up quickly. When I was twelve we finally got the strings on my little toy guitar fixed and I finally wrote a full song. When our family took a vacation to Florida ,I purchased my first “real guitar” at a thrift store on a rainy day. After that all I did was write songs and sing. I was also very involved in choir at this point of my life. I was filling up my time with choir, playing guitar, piano, and writing. I never wanted to do anything else. After I got my guitar, I constantly begged my parents to take me to Nashville. The main reason for this is because Taylor Swift is a HUGE influence to me. I heard about that when she was eleven she would go to Nashville with her mom and she would hand out little demo CDs to record producers. After many trips Taylor ended up getting a songwriting job in Nashville. Hearing that story made me believe that if I tried as hard or even harder than she did, just maybe, I could get the chance to have the same type of career that all of my role models have. After about a year of begging my parents decided to go on a family trip down to Nashville. I did not go door to door record companies because my parents wouldn't let me. They knew that it would end with the door being shut in my face and this would discourage me. Instead when we went to Ryman Auditorium my parents paid for me to record three of my original songs in the Ryman recording studio. This was my first recording experience as a new 13 year old singer-songwriter. I was so nervous, but I did it and those three songs (CDs) are sitting on the shelf in my room still today. When we were done recording, my family and I were walking around just looking at things around the building. We were in this alley and a gentleman pulls up and gets out of his car and looks at me carrying my guitar. He asked “Do you play that guitar or do you just carry it around?” and I said “I play it” his response was “Why don’t you come with me into this bar and you could play a couple songs for us?” we walk in and it is the world famous “Tootsies Orchid Lounge”! This is the bar that everyone says you need to visit while you are In Nashville. He let me on stage and I played two of my own songs, they were really the only thing I knew how to play at the time. That was my first on stage experience for me with my guitar. The video of this experience is on my YouTube channel. Since then I’ve had a lot performing opportunities. I started to really improve my guitar and songwriting skills. Then I was introduced to a family friends local recording studio. He helped me record and design this entire album, “That Moment When”. Every song is all me and is an original. The piano, ukulele, guitar, and background vocals are all me, the studio put them all together. I really hope you enjoy my music! I hope to make more CD’s as I have been working on a lot of new music and learning to play Banjo as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me and I hope you enjoy my music.
