ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The debut album from vocalist, composer and producer KC Porter features material as diverse as one might expect from the producer whose career spans over 3 decades of music for artists all over the world.

"This album reflects what is in my heart and deep in my soul, it's only a taste of what I have done and what I would like to continue doing. It is Latin infused of course, my passion for Flamenco music just get's started on Ruiseñor, then simmers on Infinite, a song that needed to be born to honor the simplicity of the words of Abdu'l-Bahá, "Love is unlimited, boundless, infinite". There are prayers and there are new songs written with JB Eckl, my dear collaborator on many songs for Santana, of which I include "Canto", an actual demo for Santana that was to feature Carlos Vives, that will now live with my vocals. Is is a song dedicated to the indigenous peoples of the world, the forgotten voices, a song of the struggle, of the earth, that the world may hear, 'Canto pa' que'l mundo pueda escuchar.'

It's where I've been for a while and i'm proud to share with you this spiritual musical journey."

Lyrics and Credits

Ruiseñor

Una sombra temporal
Un vaso de cristal vacío
Estrella fugaz
Un recuerdo más de amor
Solo permeará
Esa voz antigua

Infinite

“Love is unlimited, boundless
Love is unlimited, infinite!
The perfect love needs an unselfish instrument
absolutely freed from fetters of every kind
We must find a way of spreading love among the sons of humanity
Let all be united in this world
in the radiance of the limitless love.”
The perfect love can "be achieved by the power of the Divine Spirit."

(Quotes from Paris Talks pg. 35)

Take Me Home

In my darksome night
when I've lost my light
and my worldly mind is tired and weary
I know I need someone
to lead me to the sun
to take my hand when I can't find my courage

Oh Lord, Oh Lord
Oh Lord won't you take me home

Hace tiempo ya
dejé de respirar
y tu aliento no logró alcanzarme
y pude despertar
de esta oscuridad
al sonido de tu voz al llamarme

Oh Señor, Señor
Regresame a mi hogar

Love Me

"O SON OF BEING! Love Me, that I may love thee. If thou lovest Me not, My love can in no wise reach thee. Know this, O servant."

-Bahá'u'lláh, The Hidden Words of Bahá’u’lláh, No. 5 Arabic

Remover

Is there any Remover of difficulties save God?
Say: Praised be God!  He is God!
All are His servants, and all abide by His bidding!

(Prayer from The Báb)

Befriend Me

O my Lord, my Beloved, my Desire!

Befriend me in my loneliness and accompany me in my exile. Remove my sorrow. Cause me to be devoted to Thy beauty. Withdraw me from all else save Thee. Attract me through Thy fragrances of holiness. Cause me to be associated in Thy Kingdom with those who are severed from all else save Thee, who long to serve Thy sacred threshold and who stand to work in Thy Cause. Enable me to be one of Thy maidservants who have attained to Thy good pleasure. Verily, Thou art the Gracious, the Generous.
‘Abdu’l-Bahá

Night Hath Succeeded Day

Night hath succeeded day, and day hath succeeded night, and the hours and moments of your lives have come and gone, and yet none of you hath, for one instant, consented to detach himself from that which perisheth. Bestir yourselves, that the brief moments that are still yours may not be dissipated and lost.

(From Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh pg 346)

Yaran

In Spring 2008
in a world not yet awake
seven loving parents
arrested for their faith
Taken from their loved ones
and stripped of all they own
into a small dark cell
their fate would not be known

Teaching was their service
the leaders would forbid
and now they're serving countless years for things they never did
Their only crime was selflessness
and daring to believe
that until there was unity
the world would not know peace

Yaran, Yaran
You are remembered
and not forgotten

The world has come to know you
as friends, as the Yaran
your strength and inspiration
they help us carry on
Bereft of every comfort
through day and sleepless night
still in your darkest hour
your spirit's shining bright

We will not sleep 'till you're released
we will not eat 'till you are free
how can we breath while you're in captivity
a hundred million of our tears
are swelling up the sea

Primavera

Lluvia de sol
Como una bendición
La vida renace a plena luz
La primavera ya llegó

Todo es así
Regreso a la raíz
Tiempo de inquieta juventud
En primavera ya

La tierra negra se vuelve verde
Y las montañas y el desierto
Un bello jardín

Como la semilla
Lleva nueva vida
Hay en esta primavera una nueva era

En el aire de este nuevo universo
Hoy se respira libertad

Firmeza

Canto

Amanece lento, sobre la selva
La neblina sola se levantará
Y con el sol naciente
Vuelve a renacer
Toda la esperanza y posibilidad.

Ilumina, desde arriba
Dame el coraje y la fé,
y la verdad cantaré

Canto de la tierra
Canto de la lucha
Canto del alma y de la libertad
Canto a mi gente, que puedan despertar

Voces olvidadas, sangre y sudor
Almas invisibles, llenas de dolor
Y si la llama muere, ¿quién nos salvará?
Pues la sabiduría nunca volverá.

Canto del amor y solidaridad
Canto pa' que el mundo pueda escuchar.

Ahmad

O Ahmad! Bear thou witness that verily He is God and there is no God but Him, the King, the Protector, the Incomparable, the Omnipotent. And that the One Whom He hath sent forth by the name of ‘Alí was the true One from God, to Whose commands we are all conforming...
