This is a concept album with a strong Christian message that puts the personal testimony of Doug Bowers to music. The journey covers several musical styles from keyboard driven, proggy pop to more straightforward, edgier rock. The songs have great hooks and melodies and feature a cast of outstanding session players including ex-Glass Hammer shredder David Wallimann. Doug’s lyrics are tasteful and unpredictable with quite a bit of humor thrown in.

Album Notes
When these songs were written, it was not my intent that they become a coherent body of work. However, when I decided gather some songs for an album, these just came together to form an autobiographical testimony as it were: KING’S HIGHWAY chronicles my wild ride from birth through my turbulent teens. My college years found me torn between my science based education and my awakening spirituality. This often lead to a CRISIS OF FAITH (the live segue was recorded at the Red Cellar on a hot summer night in 1977). During this time, I fell for the wrong girl telling her all the while that I WON’T PLAY THE GAME. She only brought out my DARK SIDE anyway. SECOND COMING marks my acceptance of the truth which was revealed to me through the GRACE OF GOD. Marriage and a move to the Bible belt enabled me to witness the STREET PREACHER first hand (the ranting segue uses quotes from actual street preachers….you can’t make this stuff up). Soon afterward, my best friend was stricken with cancer and died fully knowing that he had the PROMISE OF A NEW DAY. Hey, DEATH…YOU LOSE! Through all this, I was filled with a GIFT OF PEACE. The loss of my father and most recently my wife to cancer brought full circle the knowledge that we have a heavenly Father who has experienced it all. HE KNOWS our pain.
