ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
ABOUT THE ALBUM
This is a collection of my favorite Italian contemporary pop classics which, with the likely exception of Bruno Martino’s "Estate", may be unfamiliar to North American listeners.
On the western side of the Atlantic Pond, we lounge pianists have always had fairly frequent requests for such fifties staples as "Arrivederci Roma", "Come Prima", "Non Dimenticar" and "Volare". In the nineties, our playlists had to feature many new pop-classical songs such as "Con Te Partiro", many of which were popularized by the great Andrea Bocelli.
It seems to me there has been a listening gap. These songs by "Other Italians", albeit “sung” by keyboards, constitute my modest attempt to fill at least part of that gap.
For the most part originating in the seventies and eighties, these beautiful, captivating melodies, which were performed by the likes of vocalists Memo Remigi, Eduardo de Crescenzo, Gianni Morandi and the prolific Bruno Martino himself, are the true substance of “Easy Listening”.
I have also included a catchy 1950s Quartetto Cetra swing item, "Dimmi Un Po’, Sinatra" and a gorgeous little melody, "Romantic", composed by pianist Pino Calvi.
I am indebted to my good friend, Italian vocalist Tiero Cavalieri, for introducing me to the wonderful music of "Other Italians". And my love and thanks go to Joan, my most loyal supporter.
This album is dedicated to Mary Alice Mullin.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Expatriate Canadian pianist Keith Nesbit's music career started during the early days of Rock & Roll, but was interrupted by the 36 years he served in the Canadian Navy (primarily underwater). Since resuming his music endeavors, he has resided in Virginia with his wife of 44 years, Joan. For many years, he added a touch of class to the grand piano at Norfolk's famed Painted Lady Restaurant.
In 2004 he produced his first solo album, "An Evening at The Painted Lady". It is also available at CD Baby.
In 2009, Keith was inducted into the Victoria, Canada, Music Hall of Fame for 1950s Rock & Roll performance. Today, his first love is for the romantic, swinging styles of Nat King Cole, Erroll Garner, and Diana Krall.

Recorded at Foreman Ballast Studio, Virginia Beach, VA using Apple Logic Pro.

Instruments: Roland FP-3, FP-5 & FP-4 digital pianos, Alesis QSR synthesizer module, Applied Acoustic Systems "Strum Acoustic", Synthology "Ivory II Italian Grand", and Logic instruments.
