Album Notes
This record, combined with an original ebook, is a unique American history in five parts from 1832 through 2012. Beginning with the story of how I am connected to a treaty signed one hundred eighty-two years ago, and ending with a dedication to one who embodies hope, optimism, and joy, "What's Gone Before" is a collection of five original instrumental compositions. These songs were written to be soundscapes, detailing chapters of life which have shaped me and are shaping me into the person I am becoming. Visit under the "Original Music" menu, "What's Gone Before", and the "ebook & Liner Notes" menu selection to read/download the ebook which makes plain the stories behind the songs. The ebook also provides the project's production notes including the players. Among the musicians who joined me in the studio are Kevin Dukes (longtime L.A.-based guitar sideman, touring musician, session player and producer), Sam Levine (prolific horn player--saxes, woodwinds--and contributor on a long list of recording projects and film & TV soundtracks as well as his own solo projects), and Russ Pahl (pedal steel guitar wizard who has collaborated with many and varied recording and touring artists over a long and successful career).
