Album Notes
The Fire - EP is Kelcy Mae's third recording project and poised to become a breakout for the New Orleans-based singer/songwriter. With a matured sound, terrific songwriting and some of the finest musical accompaniment New Orleans has to offer, Kelcy Mae has taken her already-considerable talents to another level.

This project garnered remarkable national support, and a successful Kickstarter effort raised over ten thousand dollars to help see The Fire and its forthcoming counterpart to fruition. In return, Kelcy Mae has taken her longstanding love affair with folk and Americana music and infused it with touches of rock, blues, soul and rockabilly. The result is electrifying—literally in many cases—as the artist reimagines something like an Irish drinking ballad from the point of view of a raucous Telecaster with "Oh How the Whiskey" and livens a sweet ode to Elvis with a rollicking dancehall delivery in "King of Tennessee." Meanwhile the title track, “The Fire,” is a soulful meditation on the costs of violence where she weaves her trademark, harmonized vocals through a grittier rock ‘n’ roll arrangement to great effect.

Musicians appearing on The Fire - EP include Alex McMurray, Alexis Marceaux (Alexis & the Samurai), Andrew Campanelli (The Revivalists), Alexandra Scott, Rick Nelson (Polyphonic Spree, The Afghan Whigs) and Jason Rhein (Rotary Downs) among others. The record was co-produced by Kelcy Mae, Rick Nelson, and Jason Rhein.

In 2011, Kelcy Mae's Pennies in Hand was named one of the Top 10 New Orleans CDs of the Year by the New Orleans Times Picayune. She was also nominated by Offbeat Magazine as Best New Orleans Singer/Songwriter the same year.
