Album Notes
Songs in the Key of Praise

Most importantly, I give praise to God, for his divine guidance in fulfilling a lifelong anticipated dream. Sharing my musical expressions within this recording is a gift that I pray will bless, uplift and inspire all who listen for years to come.

“Songs in the Key of Praise” includes traditional hymns and soul stirring contemporary gospel favorites. I enjoyed every minute of recording this CD and the phenomenal experience I had working with the staff at Blueprint Studios in Columbia, SC. Roosevelt (Snoop) McLamore is unquestionably one of the most talented young producers in the southeast. He challenged me, pressing me beyond my comfort zone, with incredibly inspiring arrangements that brought this project to life. Thank you Snoop!

Special thanks to Cheri Maree Washington, whose artistry I have admired for years, and to, Reverend Flavian Coleman, a spiritual mentor; your combined contributions kindled a calming anointing through your incomparable vocal prowess.

To my fellow musicians and personal friends, bassists Tyrone Mack, Dwain Houston, Coleman Sistrunk, and Joe Jackson; lead guitarist Jmichael Peeples; Keyboardist Roosevelt McLamore; percussionists Rodrick Johnson and Rickey Johnson; and, background vocalists Tamika Sims and Bridgett Burton; I greatly appreciate your unique musical gifts and contributions in making this project a success.

To my loving wife, Attorney Joyce Cheeks, and our dear son, Kahlil, I dedicate this divine effort in the loving memory of our moms, Cora B. Cheeks and E. Roberta Farr. Years before its fruition, we all shared a vision of this CD. Thank you, Joyce, for holding me accountable. I value your love, your support and equally important, your expertise as a musician and Executive Producer of this collaborative work. It could not have happened without you!

Finally, to my Greenview First Baptist Church brothers and sisters, family, friends, students and fans, who through the years, never failed to request a CD following a performance and insisted that I record one. Well, here it is, “Songs in the Key of Praise”. Listen, Enjoy and God Bless you.

Executive Producer: Joyce Farr Cheeks, Esq.
We conceived and birthed this project based on our family’s guiding principle to “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33. We wanted it to uplift, inspire and motivate you when life, social media or today’s political climate diminishes your spirit and energetic perceptions. God smiled on us and delivered. I pray that this music blesses you as richly as it continues to bless us.
