Higher Ground

by The Kenn Morr Band

A collection of catchy, acoustic-based songs with deep, intimate and sometimes-spiritual lyrics. Kenn Morr's trademark bass vocal is enriched by the musicianship and instrumentation of the KMB (fiddle, accordian, mandolin, bouzouki, guitars, piano...)

Album Notes
This has been my favorite project to date. It was by far the most effortless. Prior-to recording the album mandolinist/fiddle player Tom Hagymasi requested I send the band the new songs in a stripped-down recording rather than a full arrangement (as I've always done in the past.) This gave the band members the opportunity to hear the songs bare-boned with just vocal and guitar (or piano.) It easier for the players to conceptualize their contributions rather than play (already-established) "parts". We would then meet at the studio and discuss and play arrangement ideas. These sessions were a breeze. Bassist Dan Hocott and Percussionist Bob Gaspar have been working with me for several years. We think alike. Tom's addition to the band and his recording concept/approach gives this album it's new "feel" and sound. It's alive and it's refreshing.

The songs deal with life, love, loss, youth, aging, hope, journey, peace, fear and all the rest of it...
