ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“Songs for Special Ones” are tone poems inspired by real people, not works of literature or art. As musical portraits, they capture a moment-in-time, guided by the feelings and memories of the artist. They are meant to ignite within listeners their own stories. Each song is a point of departure . . . a place to begin . . . a prelude to exploration. Listeners will hear their own “special ones” spring into being.

Kenn Pierson has written choral music and music for the theatre, as well as pieces for solo piano. Raised in rural South Dakota, he was highly influenced by the Lutheran musical tradition of Bach, a classical music training that specialized in the Romantics and French impressionist composers, and folk music of the 60s and beyond. He is also a poet, playwright, and educator living near Los Angeles with his greatest inspiration, his family.
