Album Notes
Kere Buchanan is best known as a drummer’s drummer having played with a who’s who of great Australian artists including Tina Arena & Marcia Hines. Kere is also widely acknowledged as the leader of groups such as The Bodacious Cowboys & Kerosene. Perhaps less well known is the fact that Kere is also an enormously talented producer, arranger, writer & pianist.

His new album 'Starting Over' is aptly named as he introduces his audience to a dynamic new phase of his career. His collaboration with the towering talents of people like Steve Clisby, Geoff Robertson, Glenn Bidmead, Michelle Martinez & Kimi Tupaea provides a sublime edge to the R&B, Jazz & Blues genre that such a vocal line-up would suggest.

The musicians on 'Starting Over' have been meticulously hand picked by Buchanan from his endless industry wide associations & the result is a sound that is instrumentally 'exact' to accompany the lyrical journey from start to finish right across the album highlighting the compositions of Buchanan/ Clisby & Bidmead.

The Troms

A classic album!
A friend recommended I check this album out a few weeks ago with the highest of accolades & I’m so glad I did. New Zealand born Buchanan (drummer/composer/arranger & producer), appears to have blended together what seems to be all of his favourite tastes & flavours in this genre with an album that has that undenying Jazz/Pop/RnB sound & features both vocally & instrumentally no less than 22 of the finest Australian musicians with the likes of Bill Risby on Fender Rhodes/Acoustic Piano, James Muller & Chris Kamzelas on Guitars, Leon Gaer & Alexander Hewetson on Electric Bass, Craig Walters on Tenor Saxophone & Tony Azzopardi on Percussion along with Steve Clisby, Michelle Martinez, Glenn Bidmead & Geoff Robertson on vocals plus many more.

With Pop, Rock, Jazz, RnB & Gospel flavours on this album, this amazing 11 track CD entices the listener to take the journey from the opening Clisby composition ‘Never Be Another Next Time’, the Buchanan/Bidmead song ‘Waiting For Love’, (a duet featuring Kimi Tupaea & Michelle Martinez), the title track, ‘Starting Over’ featuring the Robertson Brothers on vocals, another Buchanan/Bidmead song (this time featuring Bidmead on lead), ‘Through The Tears’ to the final Buchanan composition with ‘Prelude’, ‘Hymn For Anders’ which reminds me of that type of chill out song @ the end of a Quincy Jones album. From start to finish, you can’t stop listening to this collection of songs ‘till the last long fade out.

If you’re in for a journey with that classic RnB sound, this album’s for you.

What a fabulous album of music
Every so often I get surprised.
People around the world are led to foolishly believe that the great music only comes from New York L.A or the U.K.

The most amazing thing about creations is that so Many Australians and New Zealanders are responsible for much of what
we use on a daily basis - Eftpos, Internet protection (Mail Marshall) for corporates, and much more..

this is one of those occasions when I hear some music and not only is the production automatically make the listener
believe that this has been produced in the best N.Y Studios, the performance, writing and execution of the music is of
such a high standard and of such enticing musicality, that it must be heard.

The grooves jump out at you, the songwriting and vocals are magnificent.
The drumming and production by the Author of this album is beyond adequate praise.
It is simply too much. In New Zealand we would call it "Tu Tumeke" which means of the highest possible
standard and then some.. In Australia "It's hot man" In the US "It's really happenin'"

Anyone that buys this album that loves great R&B, Funk, Soulful singing and grooves, beautiful ballads, wonderful solos
and music that tells you that the artist is giving you a bit of himself... look no further..

You have found what you are looking for..

Who am I? Nobody, just someone that loves good music, whatever style and wherever it comes from ..

I once heard a CD here called "Whisper My Name" by a singer called Louise Perryman, and on further perusal found that it was produced, played (Drums/Keyboards), arranged, written and sung (BVs) by Kere Buchanan. Anyone would be hard pressed to find an album so well played (with real instruments), great sounding, and with such well written songs. Forward to today....... He's done it again.
It's not often you hear an album that is played by real people, with real acoustic instruments (no computers), with real songs. This is a thinking person's collection of classic songs, with a sound not unlike a great 70s/80s R&B album like Anita baker's "Rapture" or any of Bobby Caldwell's or Al Jarreau's old albums. I mean this as the highest compliment, as music back then had to be played properly without computers making up for human error.
Every part of this album is without reproach. Not only is Buchanan an extremely gifted songwriter, arranger and pianist, but there hasn't been a drummer who come close to him since Jeff Porcaro departed this world.
This album has to be part of your collection, as when the day comes (10, 20 , 30, 40 years time) when your electronically made and programmed CDs are no longer fashionable, you with pull out "Starting Over" and wish that they still made music like this.
