ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Kevin’s Solo Guitar Works

“AGATHA” is a set of programme music, inspired from Agatha Christie's genre. Each of the seven episodes is reflective of its event or title as we journey through the murder procedure.

“GEARS” is a work which turns and spin on its own wheels, starting in neutral then going to first, second, third and fourth gear.

The two stand alone pieces “HESITATION" and "OOBLIOO” were both early attempts to write in a style I have coined “Jassical”. That is, using flamenco, blues, and jazz influences to combine with classic guitar pieces. It is interesting to note that at one time the word “Jazz” was in fact written and pronounced “Jass”.

“LATIN SUITE” is comprised of four works named Cayo Coco, Coral Reef, Jumbalaya, and Gardalavaca. These were initially composed as solo guitar pieces inter-connected by Calypso, Brazilian, Argentinian, and (particularly) Afro-Cuban influences. Upon completion I considered how they might sound with percussion accompaniment. Initially I thought a single improvised bongo addition would suffice but soon I found myself using a wide range of drums and percussion. I'm choosing to present these four works in ensemble format here, but they also stand up as solo classic guitar works.
All additional instruments were played or programmed in Addictive drums by me.

Please enjoy!
