Love this Album
A much anticipated album in which I was left very satisfied after listening. It is edgy with a full sound. Kevin sounds amazing as per the norm. I highly recommend it

Where's the Beef?
Five new songs from Kevin Max, right? Not exactly. This is a five track EP from the incomparable Kevin Max as a companion to the (so far) unreleased novel and graphic novel project Fiefdom of Angels. Of the five songs on this EP, only one is an original composition. "Send Me an Angel" is a slow cover of the 1983 hit from Real Life. The intro is just a bit too long and it's a bit hard to come back from that. The second track, "End of the Beginning", is a re-worked track from the "Stereotype Be" sessions circa 2000. Many fans had been listening to the superior demo for close to 12 years. Then we hit the halfway mark with a cover of Joy Division's "Shadowplay", possibly the high point of this release. Again, we're given an excruciatingly long and slow intro, but unlike "Send Me an Angel", Kevin brings this one back from the brink. The fourth track is a cover of Queen's "Dragon Attack". This song started off decent even though it's nothing like the beloved original, but near the midway point, Kevin starts reciting poetry about angels, which really feels out of place in a Queen song, cover or not. The final track, "Take a Bow" is a cover of Muse. This song interests me in absolutely no way, shape or form. Original or cover. Definitely the worst track on the EP, yet it's the lead-off single.

All in all, this EP was more hype than delivery. For me, it was worth the price because I am a completist, but it just isn't what you would expect from a Kevin Max release.

the only thing this album needs is a movie to go with it!:)
In Fiefdom of Angels, Kevin Max weaves a tale of Starlight and ancient legend. A glimpse into the past of Eternity. FOA explores the Origins of angels, their creation, the kingdoms & realms they govern and ultimately leads down the path that few have dared to shed light upon; the historic fall from grace of Lucifer, heretofore known as Samael, ruler of the Kingdom of Keren, City of Light.
Each song on the album of FIEFDOM OF ANGELS: SIDE ONE was painstakingly chosen to accompany and coincide with the plot, characters and storyline of the soon to be released graphic novel written by Kevin Max and Mike Bullock.

Opening with the cover of Send Me An Angel by Real Life, Max's voice calls to the soul, gently guiding the listener to follow down the path of angels, sweeping one into the saga of FOA. End Of The Beginning, one of Max's one compositions, takes one over the edge of the world into the shadows and the gathering storm of the impending Fall. Shadowplay, by Joy Division, is a moving orchestral masterpiece exquisitely rendered, it leaves the soul searching and yearning for more. There are few brave souls talented enough to take on the legendary voice of Freddie Mercury. In Dragon Attack, by Queen, Max boldy proves that he is equal to the task.

SIDE ONE concludes with a cover of Take A Bow, by Muse. One imagines the ultimate fate of Samael, fallen from Grace, thrown into the depths of Hell and all the chaos that ensues. The gravity of this cataclysmic event resonates fully in the intensity of the song and the listener is swept away breathless. If you cannot get enough of The Voice that is KMax, this album is for you!!
