ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
KEY OF SHE is one of the most exciting startups on the a cappella horizon. Launched in January 2001 and consisting of experienced musicians, the sextet stunned audiences and immediately made sonic waves.

A little over a year later, KEY OF SHE won the coveted prize of "Audience Favorite" and 2nd Place honors at the 11th Annual New York Harmony Sweepstakes, the a cappella world's highly competitive battle of the voices. Singing for a capacity crowd, these six dynamic women mesmerized the audience with smooth jazz, classic rock, comedy, and high-energy Latin salsa. Upon completion of their 10-minute set, the crowd gave the ladies a standing ovation and stuffed their ballot box to overflowing.

In May 2002, KEY OF SHE opened for Ray Charles and his orchestra at a full house at the Union County (NJ) Arts Center. That opener, which garnered an enthusiastic audience response and record CD sales, followed a year of performances at venues such as Philadelphia's Annual Paradigm Award Luncheon, Phoenixville PA's A Cappella Jam, New Hope's Bastille Day Celebration, Philadelphia's Annual Women of Distinction Awards Dinner, Princeton's Harmonic Convergence, and Princeton Friends School's annual fundraiser. The group also entertained diners at the Hopewell Bistro and Failte's Coffee House in Hopewell, NJ and performed at a number of private parties in New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, and Pennsylvania.

According to one local reporter, "These six women from Central New Jersey serve up a cappella à la mode in a style that is smooth, sweet, and sultry. KEY OF SHE is just plain fun." They are great entertainers and always, underlying everything, serious musicians. All six are altos so KEY OF SHE's sound is deep and rich and their harmonies tight. They sing everything from classic Porter to Dylan and Twain. Their songs are arranged exclusively for them, most by their own in-house arranger.

When not singing, members of KEY OF SHE heal the planet, fund-raise for non-profits, sell the gross national product, rear the next generation of singers, and make the world safe for democracy and dogs.

a very unique collection. beautiful voices and great song selection.
in an era of pre-fab teen pop and flavors of the moment, this album is a unique collection of songs done by a group of women whose focus is on the music. powerful voices and a great song selection. you really should see them live to fully appreciate what these ladies are all about.

Key of She is Classy
I've loved listening to key of she. Their sound is refreshing, with varying styles and great vocals. This group of altos blends really well and there is a lot of talent and training (definitely another run-of-the-mill group). It is a definitely worth adding to the CD collection.
