Album Notes
Keystone Ska Exchange is a vision from the mind of Zack Herbst, bassist, who hand-picked each of its members; all of which have a deep love for Ska music but also come from different musical backgrounds. Aside from Ska, Zack enjoys punk rock as well as a wide, eclectic taste in various other genres of music.

Dean Stroop has sang and tap-danced on broadway and has toured the United States and Europe with stage performances such as "Crazy for You." Dean put aside his tap shoes to learn the drums just to skank with his fellow rude boys. Dean fell in love with Ska while living in New York City in the 1980's after hearing bands such as The Specials and The English Beat (two of the biggest inspirations of The Keystone Ska Exchange).

Al Meck is never without a guitar in his hands, or so it would seem. Al is a prominent and respect blues guitarist whose soulful chops bring make for some savory solos. Al has a massive collection of ska and soul music that has been a huge inspiration to each of the members of The Keystone Ska Exchange.

Alex Boyce is the other guitarist in KSX that brings a classic feel to their music. Even though Alex comes from a blues/jazz/rock background, he found ska as a teenager in the 90's when third-wave bands such as Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish were becoming popular. For Alex, it's been "further down the rabbit hole" ever since.

The album "Have a Good Time" was entitled based off the lyrics of the track "Nancy Says" written by Dean Stroop in honor of his mother, Nancy Stroop, who had passed away after battling cancer. Nancy was a great supporter of Dean and embraced in him the life lesson that "it's alright to have a good time" and to always follow the Golden Rule.

Shortly after completing this album in 2013, Dean was also diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and began his own battle. A community of people came out to support him and his family. On May 8th, 2014, Dean's fight had ended but the lessons and good times he had shared with everyone who had the honor to meet him did not. In his memory, The Keystone Ska Exchange continues to spread the message passed down to Dean by his mother, Nancy, "it's alright to have a good time."
