ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
My name is Travisteen Helms. I'm a singer songwriter, born and raised in Ventura, California. Although I grew up listening to down home blues, R&B and Jazz, I also enjoyed country music. You could say I have an eclectic ear when it comes to music.

I started singing around the house at the early age of 7. From Radio and T.V. I was deeply influenced by the likes of Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Tanya Tucker, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr., and Willie Nelson. At 18 I learned the basics of piano and guitar, but I really didn't start performing until I was 22 years old. Feeling brave, I auditioned and became the lead singer in a Rock & Roll Band called, "The Full House." We were rated one of the ten best bands in Ventura, County.

Since then I moved to Vancouver, Wa and attended Clark College. There I got some music theory under my belt and song in the choir. Later I decided to take on private voice lessons, to hone in on my vocal skills. Over the years, I've come to realize, that my talent lies in song writing.

That is what brought me to Portland Songwriter Association. After joining, I got acquainted with the local writers in the Portland, Oregon area. During that time I hooked up with a famous blues artist by the name of "Curtis Salgado". I collaborated with him on a tune called, "Beneath The Silver Moon". You'll find it on his CD entitled, "Wiggle Out of This", song # 9.

In Vancouver I sang backup vocals on Carl Joiner's "CD" entitled, "A Better Place". Check him out on HYPERLINK "http://www.CDbaby.com"www.CDbaby.com, his music has a rich R&B flavor.

Most recently I produced, recorded, and wrote all the songs on my New Country CD entitled, "Can't Gamble Love". Vic Sorisio, the recording engineer, assisted me in producing the "CD". He also introduced me to a "dynamic country-singer by the name of Kimberly Hall (she is the lead vocalist on my country CD). When I heard her voice I was amazed. I felt I had truly found a gold mine. And when you hear her voice, you will understand, why!

These original country tunes I'm presenting to you, are true stories. And if you listen carefully, you will see my life....unfold.
