Album Notes
Getting II Yes is the highly anticipated, jazzy follow-up to soul singer Kim Arrington’s debut CD, First Love Note of Kim Arrington (2008). Described as a “genre-bending, musical conversation through loss and liberation,” Getting II Yes boasts original songs penned and produced by Arrington and pianist Victor Moore. Rounding out Getting II Yes are punchy covers of Tears for Fear’s Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Janet Jackson’s Control, and Morris Albert’s Feelings. Complete with warm, unassuming vocals and dynamic backgrounds, Arrington is accompanied by 25 instruments ranging from Hammond B3 organ to trumpet to viola to the African Kora on Getting II Yes. Kim Arrington has been described by the Indy Week as ”a singer boasting an appropriately smooth and sultry voice…[Kim Arrington’s songwriting] relishes turns of phrase and unexpected details, subtle character development and sung dialog.”

It's Good Music :-)
I just received my copy of the album today and it's been playing all afternoon. The smile in Kim's voice partnered with the lush arrangements makes for an album that can serve as a soundtrack to a very chill day. A must have for any music lover's collection...

II Yes indeed!!
Sweet, subdued, clever, intelligent, guiding a tight educated respectful band. Hear a mix of progressive adventure woven into a fabric of respect for tradition. Listen to these musicians dance and play with lyrics and phrasing that challenge the ups and downs of relationship while advancing a fresh new perspective. The remakes of known tracks capture the essence of the originator while reaching a new flavor through delicate rearrangement.
Please take your time and digest the lyrical majesty of this young poet 'jingle jangle of love's currency' ..............
come on!!!
Kim, Victor and the crew have delivered with this one!

I Love It
Received my copy last week, and it has been on constant rotation since. I cant even pick a favorite because I love so many. Love the arrangements, as well as the twists in the remakes (digging the odd meter vibe of "Every Wants to Rule the World"). The musicianship is polished and just right. The players are not overbearing with just enough presence to be enjoyed by musicians like myself, yet pleasantly support her velvety, lyrical tone. It has such a nostalgic vibe with modern flavor. This is such a great project. I just turn it on and get lost. No need to skip or fast forward at all. You wont be disappointed.

I love the CD! I'm amazed at the talent, variety and energy presented on each song. It sounds like they had fun making the album - when you love what you do, it shows! I have found myself listening to at least some of the CD every time I'm in the car. I highly recommend this CD for anyone who loves "fun to listen to" music!
