Album Notes
Kim Liggett is a hot newcomer on the jazz scene-
She has made quite an impression on not only jazz fans but some of the world's best jazz musicians.
She has a very eclectic back ground with music. Everything from singing back up vocals for rock band's to studio jingle work. Kim's comment to me on putting this info in her bio was "okay, so Duran Duran & Shasta Cola were not my shining moments but, I worked, I survived & I culminated experiences that enable me to do what I do now."

For Kim it's all about interpretation. She makes no bones about the fact that she will not do a tune unless she can directly relate it to her life in some way.
In an interview with the Kansas City Star, Kim stated
"a singer can have this beautiful, flawless, trained voice but if I don't feel it, that she is being honest about what she is singing about, it's a very empty experience for me."
This motto makes her a spell binding performer with a sense of humor that puts everyone instantly at ease.

Kim is based in Kansas City & is featured at the great KC jazz venues. She is currently touring the United States & is scheduled to be performing in London, Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Singapore & Cuba during 2003.

My Favorite
I love this CD and listen to it all of the time. So much so that I wore out my first CD and had to get another.

emotionally charged, a beautiful voice with just enough sass
This CD is a great find- very diverse & emotionally charged.
She starts off with a marvelous version of Angel Eyes,
where Kim Liggett & Grammy award winning pianist Frank Mantooth weave a web of raw emotion.
Her voice is hard to classify, there is a real vulnerability & sweetness to it but she also reveals a very playful, almost mischievious tone on songs like Dat Dere & Violent Love.
On the classic Shadow of Your Smile & I Tought About You, her voice cuts right to the heart of it-
She is backed up by superior musicians & I'm sure we will be hearing alot more from this talented newcomer.

I think she's really got something!
I just opened Kim's CD. She's very good. The CD shows quite a range, real talent, and emotional depth. Her collaborators - arrangers and instrumentalist - really add a lot. This speaks volumes about what Kim herself offers in talent and leadership. I think she's really got something!
