ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
King Jogo (aka Joseph L. Thornburg) returns with Swing 'n'Swive, an idiosyncratic look at sex and love--mostly sex. King Jogo eschews the dense electronics of his 2001 album Comet Boy and goes for the traditional rock band arrangement: drums, bass, guitars, and keyboards. But despite the subject matter, Swing 'n' Swive is, for the most part, not meant to be titillating. Some songs take a tongue in cheek look at immune systems (Super Duper), physical attraction (On The Genetic Drive), closeted actors (Hand in the Picture), and personal ads (I Look for the Partner). Other songs are sometimes uncomfortably intimate--What is a Man asks if gender identity is simply about what is between one's legs, while Trustworthy examines a brutally violent sadomasochistic relationship--or is it just about an abusive animal owner?
