ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
KITE’s humble beginnings as a studio band in 1994 evolved into an ambitious touring act in the year 2000 and has since been offering up an intense, passionate and full bodied rock experience that critics have called “Awe inspiring!” Brian Tripplett, Eastern Washington University Review; “Powerfully expressive. Postitively riveting.” John Collinge, Progression Magazine.

When Monte Thompson (vocals and acoustic guitar), Michael Koep (drums), Mark Rakes (bass) and Scott Clarkson released their first album (Gravity, 1997) they didn’t expect that the project would launch them into a ten plus year history of writing, performing and enduring craftsmanship. The trio has built a reputation for the care they put into their records and the concentrated force of their performances. KITE songs are in every way unique, important and substance driven. Like their fans, KITE endeavors for themes and melodies that inspire and move. And for their fans, they deliver.

Wonderful !!!!
It seems like I've been waiting forever for this to come out and although at times it felt like it would never arrive ... it has...it was worth the wait ...it's wonderful.

The band have matured with each release most notably the fantastic Gravity album and this is probably their most accomplished album to date. The playing, songwriting, heck everything is superb - it all just fits together so well. Again like Gravity it would be hard for me to pick any particular favourite song as they are all bang on! But I'll comment on a few.
The album starts out with the instantly infectious "Steer by the Stars", the songs dynamics pulling you in while vocalist Monte's voice almost whispers then next moment soars, what a brilliant start to the album. "If You Were Dead" initially might seem a quite bitter song on first listen but after a few spins I find it darn funny, another great song with again a hook to it that will have you singing it to yourself...You get some funny looks off family when you start singing "If you were dead I'd open a corner shop" I can tell ya!
"Everything Magic" is simply presented ....and also one of the most beautiful songs I have heard in a long, long, long time, absolutely stunning ... if you've ever deeply loved anyone then ... then you'll know...what can I say?
"Slant of the Sun" lyrically conjures up so many wonderful yet melancholy images but it's a true song of hope and again the vocals and playing are sublime.
There!! That's four songs commented on....there's another seven to discover, but you discover them and make of them what you will, but you shouldn't let this album pass you by as you'll be missing something very special.
