Album Notes
Kit Walker is a keyboardist and composer best known for his two Windham Hill Jazz releases, "Dancing on the Edge of the World", and "Fire in the Lake", which both received international top ten airplay, and critical acclaim. He has also toured the world and recorded with Kitaro, and has recorded and composed music for Steve Smith's Vital Information, as well as on Journey guitarist Neal Schon"s album "Electric World". He is the keyboardist with Jai Uttal and the Pagan Love Orchestra, appearing on their latest two albums, "Shiva Station", and the Grammy-nominated "Mondo Rama". His work can also be heard on recordings of rap stars Notorious B.I.G., SWV, and Jay-Z, which earned him a BMI award in the category of Urban Music in 2001.
More recently, Kit has turned to producing, including the two best-selling albums of the devotional singer Deva Premal, "Love is Space" and "Embrace", as well as his own world/jazz release "Freehouse". He also currently works with the Brazilian world jazz percussion master Airto Moreira and his wife, vocalist Flora Purim.

In a review in Jazziz magazine, Kit was called "the Henry Thoreau of Jazz" , due to his organic and original style of composing and playing, and his transcendence of genre-bound classifications.

His new album, "Freehouse" continues his explorations of the frontiers of jazz, funk, and new music.

Free House
Superb CD that is filled with outstanding and finely arranged compositions that groove as well. Kit\'s as well as his support players perform like virtuosos .

Great grooves - Kit doesn't seem to sit on one particular motif when he solos. I hear many motifs and yet he keeps the groove there!!

What a refreshing listen. Music that spins the senses in a web of dripping lushness...densely layered with a driving funk underlay...frosting where it's most appreciated. Nothing since Zawinul has done it like this. Looks like I need to dig deeper into Kit Walker.

a beautiful CD
Highly recommended for people who love getting that swept away feeling by an entire album. Kit Walker is an inspiration, and this album is beautiful and full of life.

This sort of music can change your life. Deep, extremely deep and organic. After only two
listenings, I heard the message. Get up, get out, find your bliss. Kit's music takes you
where the dream is. The healthy earth. Healthy peaceful inhabitants. It's almost like you
are in Early Earth mode, trekking through primordial jungle with absolutely no fear.
Such a happy convergence of sound and tranquility and hope.
The world needs more artists like Kit Walker.

Fantastic CD!
Fantastic Grooves! The musicians probably hate being compared but a comparison might help another buyer pick up this CD - A must have for any savvy music listener! Imagine a blended Weather Report, Steps Ahead, Miles, Oregon, and Airto. Every musician appearing on this CD is an "Exceptional Player". It just doesn't get any better. Like opening a fantastic bottle of wine!

super-nutrition for the musical soul
Kit Walker is one of the greats. I mean that in every sense. His skills as a keyboardist are simply blinding, fluent. What's challenging for the rest of us is hardly north of easy for Kit, and it's that kind of intensity that carries you away on Freehouse. But it gets even better because Kit is a true composer. His compositional ability takes the mix of great musicians and grooves and skilled soloing into the realm of brilliance, in both the emotional and contrapuntal sense. Freehouse IS deep. It's so well rounded it hurts.
