One Day

dreamy emotional rock proclaimed in the indie rock spirit. What you would get if you mixed PJ Harvey and Mazzy Star in a blender and topped with a touch of Hole(just enough anger to please)

Album Notes
Hello World!! My name is Kat Maxwell and I am a singer/songwriter hailing from the great city of Elvis, Memphis, Tennessee. Don't be fooled by my location though. My sound and style is more in the vein of indie greats Mazzy Star and PJ Harvey than Elvis or B.B. King. In fact, truth be known, I have only been to the King's 'jungle room' in good, old Graceland once. I like hanging with my animals, playing guitar, and girls that rock. I don't like poseur pop stars, stinky feet, and butter beans. Yuk! They suck!! My new record doesn't though. Check it out and also check out my web site.

Great music
I listened to Kat live in Collierville, TN, then I got the CD. Great material! Keep it up, you have a great future!

Loved It!!!!
This is a great CD....easy to listen to and a nice vibe!!!!

S. J. Tucker/Skinny White Chick

all-purpose '94-esque grrl-ness
Kat may be a bit of Mazzy, PJ, and Hole, but what's more important is that she's all woman, and all-original. Either you've got it or you don't: that husky, sultry, note-gliding voice doesn't work for everyone. Nor can everybody pull off Kat's concise but atypical song structure. This disc is gonna get a hole worn into it, bad puns excused. From beginning to end, Kat gives you passage to where many songcrafters these days fear to tread--inside her head. The results of the journey--Kat's journey, and the listener's journey through her songs--make for time well spent. With Kat, and One Day, I recall the musical brilliance of the early-to-mid 90's and wonder to myself what it is that's lacking in the radio scene today. Track one is my fave; ever notice how one good song can quell your road rage just enough to get you home...? Good job, grrl, and thank you.

Collected Sounds

good stuff
Maxwell has one of those soft, sweet-with-an-edge voices that sounds really good with rockin' melodies. It's hard to explain but think Tonya Donnelly and Belly with a splash of PJ Harvey (?) She doesn't have what you'd call a classically beautiful voice, but it's just right for this type of music.

Kat Maxwell, has put out a great little CD! I say "little" because it's only 8 songs, which is bigger than an EP, but I still want more.

Good CD
Smooth sounds and a nice voice. A welcome addition to any music collection.
