Album Notes
After a long, hot midday show, Kit, Quin and Steve went to a house party. As so many are, this party seemed centered around the kitchen. We were three cocktails into this kitchen party when a group of ten people walk in, drinks already in hand. In this group was the host, our friend, who had been mysteriously absent. We were quickly greeted and told of a bonfire, where the party really was. "Where is the fire?" Quin asked. "Beyond the peonies," said the gracious host, graciously. We thought that sounded like the great American novel, and almost immediately decided it would be the next album name.
Only recently did the analogy hit me. Our entire time together as a band, we've been partying in the kitchen, believing that WAS the party. As the title suggests, this album is us finding ourselves and our sound. We've finally joined the party, beyond the peonies.

-Kit Clouser

"'Beyond the Peonies' delivers the running guitar riffs and the world-worn philosophy of life we’ve come to expect from The Knollwood Boys. It can do for you things that great music is rumored to do. It shares its wisdom. It transports you, lifts you, enlightens you, challenges you." - Aaron Nicely, Musician (Stampede String Band)

"The strength of the album rests in its utter simplicity...it sounds like the background music of a life much cooler than my own. Bravo." - Lucas Klipsch, Educator
