Album Notes
"Lizanne sings so sweet she makes birds jealous" Phil Roy

A long standing member of the singer-songwriter scene in Philadelphia, Lizanne Knott has been captivating audiences throughout the Northeast and garnering attention from radio listeners in places as far away as Australia and the UK. Well known locally for her understated music, floating vocals and lyrical juxtapositions, her apparent depth and transcending warmth make for an inviting mix of music which moves easily through dark poetic ballads - to soulfull jazz - to folk driven rock.

Lizanne has performed at some of the most prestigious listening venues in the Northeast including: The Kimmel Center, Club Passim, The Bitter End, The Tin Angel, World Cafe Live, Steel City CH, ASCAP Showcases, Sundown Concert Series, Philadelphia Folk Festival and more.

She has been featured on the acclaimed Bob Harris Show on London's BBC2 as well as AAA college radio and her music has been used in independant films and by national non-profit organizations.
Together with husband - GRAMMY Award winning producer/engineer, Glenn Barratt - who's credits include work with Sting, Elton John, Janis Ian, Jill Scott, Susan Werner, Phil Roy and a host of their friends (who happen to be some of the most renowned session players around) she merges her delicately soulful sound with some of todays most innovative music.

"Hauntingly delicate vocals. For some would-be singer-songwriters, life often gets in the way of their dreams. But for Lizanne Knott, it was life that paved the way for her music, opening doors in the most unexpected of places - and creating a small fervor that would lead to an enamored following in the Philadelphia area."
Nalia Francis - Sound Stage

"With melodies and lyrics that are finely crafted, Lizanne Knott forges a strong connection with her listeners. Her voice, stage presence and performance style make even those who don't enjoy live music gravitate toward her. No diamond in the rough....she's shining through with a lot of natural bling."
Mary Post
Listening Post Productions and WVUD-FM

“Vocals infused with infinite warmth, Lizanne creates the kind of songs that bring an unexpected smile --- one that surprises even your own reflection, leaving your day a little more inspired.”
Lauren Jonik - Sound Effects

“ Lizanne's voice is sweet and emotional- you feel every word she sings. Her vocals have an almost hypnotic quality, and her writing is exquisite.”

Another Bob Harris devotee

just really, really beautiful
After reading the reviews here I noticed one big common thread - Bob Harris. I can't count the times on one hand that I've been so captivated by one of his picks. This record is really, really great. I notice the former CD is going into re-issue, I imagine that too will be on my turntable (well, CD player anyway) As a final note, I found out just today that a friend of mine who lives in the states has seen this artist at the World Cafe in Philadelphia. He says that she is one of the most "real" performers he has seen in live concert. Thank God for Bob Harris, it takes things like this to make me appreciate where I live.

Wow! This record is beautiful . . . .
Lizanne and Glenn, the new album sounds awesome! I think "Waited" and "Shadow In This Town" are stunning. I was floored by lyrics to "Waited," what a great song and the production really makes it blossom. Congratulations! :)

Good luck with all the radio spots and all the shows.

Really Great
I first heard this artist on WXPN, Philadelphia and decided to give the whole cd a try. Wow, this CD is amazing, the songwriting is out of this world. Just when you think you've heard your favorite - another really cool song comes up. Kudos to you Lizanne Knott, I hope you have a very long and successful career.

I have to tell you, I bought this cd a few weeks ago and since then have become an advertisment for Lizanne's music. Not only did all 5 people in my office pick one up, it has become our favorite conversation piece. That's how good it is. Thank you cdbaby for bringing talented artists to the mainstream and thank YOU Lizanne Knott for making such beautiful music!

Great CD
I really enjoyed this cd. I have her first one, and love to play them both when I'm needing to kick back and relax. It is a very smoothing sound. Looking forward to her next one!

This is one very great CD, her first CD left us wanting more. My thirst is now quenched..until the next one!

Awesome CD!
First heard this CD on WUMB, Boston, then heard it again and again..and even more. I never tire of the songs, I don't understand why every station accross the globe isn't spinning it. It's sounds a hell of alot better than most of what hear on some of those other stations.

Phillip from London

An outstanding collection of songs!
I heard the title track to this cd a few times on the Bob Harris BBC Saturday show, picked this one up and another Limited Edition listed under her name. I am speechless. Bob Harris had given a brief review on air but I had to hear for myself - outstanding was the word he used, I say breath-takingly-beautiful. Highly Recommended, this artist is going places. By the way the UK seems to be reacting, I'd guess a world tour is not far off.

she sounds a lot like antje duvekot
i like this c.d. because on most songs she reminds me of one of my favorite singers, but a couple of times she gets a little too jazzy for me. easier is just a wonderful song.
