ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Written and recorded in Los Angeles in the fall of 2015; “Context” combines a mix of pure pop with a modern RnB feel that showcases Kolton Stewart’s unique new sound and voice.

Kolton explains how he and his songwriting team came up with the idea for the song: “When writing Context we started on the topic of "girls" – haha! I talked about how this girl that I really liked started to show feelings for me and I freaked out and started to back away as I was feeling overwhelmed and didn't think that the time/place was right. Looking back I am mad at myself, but I think the song "Context" perfectly describes how I was feeling at the time. It wasn't like I didn't like her; it’s just that I felt things were moving too fast. The writers and I went with this story from my past and the rest is history!”

Producer Matthew Tishler and Kolton met while creating the theme song for the YTV hit series Some Assembly Required that Kolton stars in as Jarvis Raines. The pair enjoyed working together so much that they pledged to do some more songwriting and the result is something special.

“Context” is written by Matthew Tishler, Phil Bentley, Jesse Weeks and Kolton Stewart and recorded and produced at Matt Tishler’s studio in Los Angeles.

Kolton adds: “Matt has a great home studio, so when writing and recording the song we had a very chill and relaxed vibe, which I think really helped write this song. Matt, Jesse and I are all Canadians and Blue Jay fans. So when recording we had to take breaks to watch the Jays play in the 2015 American League Championship!” Go Kolton!
